Indigo Bunting and Others

Here's a few shots of indigo buntings I got for the #featheredfriends community by @melinda010100

These little buntings are out everywhere right now but they are so tiny and hang out high in the trees.

I hear them belting out their song but it's pretty difficult to locate them in all the leaves of the trees. Fortunately this little guy decided to sit on a dead branch making him easier to spot.

Here he is belting out his song. For such a tiny little bird they have a loud call.

The shade of the tree made it difficult for my camera to get a good focus, but at least his blue color stood out against the background.
P6278545.jpg
Fortunately he flew down to a closer branch so I got closer shots of him.

Here he is starting his song up again. I had my camera set to a different exposure to keep the sky from blowing out.

I also spotted a tree swallow in a bluebird box. These guys tend to be pretty tame when they are perched on something resting. He was pretty curious about what I was doing but didn't fly off.

He's probably taking a rest from the sun in the shade of this box.

As usual I was able to get a nice close-up shot of one of the many red wing blackbirds. These guys are always good posers.

Beautiful captures! I hope their population is on the upswing, I would certainly like to see a whole lot more of them around here. Thanks for posting these little beauties to Feathered Friends. !tip
My daughter bought me a lovely sunflower plant yesterday and the goldfinches are out there literally ripping it apart. They could have let me enjoy it for a couple of days before they ate it!

It seems to be around here. They are all over the place, the trouble is finding them in the branches. Hah the goldfinches are hilarious they really love the sunflower seeds, the baby one that I raised really loved them too.

Great job my friend :)

Thanks, these little guys are quite elusive for good clear shots.

I love indigo buntings. We have one that has come back to this area for several years running.

They are all over the place here, I suspect they make their nests high up in the trees as I've never seen where they make their nests.

What a beautiful color they have!

They look like little sparks of blue in the forest.

Ooh..here they are ! the Indigo cuties let themselves be captured ! 😊👏

The little brats mostly hide high up in the trees, fortunately this one had to sit on a nice dead branch for some shots.

GGood post 👍 👍 👍
