Cormorant is a species of bird that can stay under water for a long time. About 40 species of Cormorant are found in many countries of the world. They like to be around water and their favorite food is fish. Some Cormorant stay in the same habitat for a long time. Our grandmother's has a canal next to her house.. In the rainy season there is water for about four months. I have seen a few Cormorant in almost the same place for a long time. They can go very deep in the water and are able to catch fish from there.
Just as we humans like to live together with family, I have seen cormorants have a family bond. I was walking along the canal. At one end of the canal I saw a few cormorants. observed them for a while. Perhaps they were talking to each other. They were three in number. There was a child cormorant. cormorant sitting on the lower branch was saying something about the cormorant of the upper branch. At the other end sat the child cormorant. When they finished talking, the cormorant sitting on the upper branch flew away. They felt like a family to me.
