Even When They Become the Nine Lepers

I saw this movie when I went to charge at my pastor's house some weeks back; that's the only place I get to watch Yoruba movies because I rarely download such movies on my phone except if it's rated high and being hyped. Aside from that, it is always fun when watching at their place with more people.

Okay so, this lady had a flourishing business and she had lots of staff at her beck and call. She had a lot of money but had no time for her husband who was unemployed but living off of her money. The lady wasn't complaining about that because she was ready to humbly spend on him and still act as if her husband was the one footing all the bills in the home. The only problem for her was bringing her office work home, and when they should both enjoy themselves in bed, she was busy completing her office work.

Everything happened so fast and she caught her husband sleeping with her friend's sister whom she had allowed into her home. Then, she sent both of them out and was never ready to accept her husband back. Of course, the house belongs to her; another problem with a man dating a well-to-do lady who owns the house.

After then, she got scammed of a loan she took from the bank using her house as collateral by her long time friend from school. The guy lured her into investing in his business and she would get her shares; she could have done her findings. You know, there is a saying that when you just meet a long-time friend, you should make some findings about what they do because you can't assume you know them before judging by how close you were some years back. People change due to situations around them.

To cut the story short, all the money she ever worked for and the loan she took got emptied within a twinkle of an eye.

Now, here comes the title. She has nothing and started going to her friends to lend her a few amount to start a small business and get herself back. No one could come in for her. Her friends whom she had helped so well turned their backs on her. They started blaming and talking behind her that she wasn't using her brain when she was busy dashing money out.

Oh, wait...did they just know that? You see how being kind hurts? They come to you when you have but when you do not have, no one remembers the good you did in the past.

How about her siblings, her own blood and family. They refused to help too bringing up silly excuses of not having money at that moment. I couldn't but feel pity for her when her big brother whom she gave 15 million naira to start up a business when he came complaining that being a civil servant wasn't helping him. His sister helped him, but he forgot so quickly.

I got infuriated when he lied he didn't have anything but willingly gave his wife a million naira to get stuff in her shop.

What a wicked world! I exclaimed as I felt so sad about the girl. The truth was, I did blame her for being so free with her kindness, always giving without saying no at some point. Well, she may think it was a good thing to help but do we know the heart of humans? No! Even the Bible says the heart of human being is desperately wicked, who can search it?

She made a statement out of frustration and anger, "Does this mean no one remembered my deed at all?" Then the mother replied, "Just see them as part of the nine lepers who didn't come back to thank Jesus" She continued with another question, "Even my siblings too? Part of the nine lepers?"

...and that is it. Everyone who got helped and didn't return to appreciate it is like the nine-lepers. These ones will come to you crying and wailing asking for help but once they get it, poof they are gone.

They make doing good become an abomination to the giver. They make the individual who is helping feel like they have been fools all along. They only show up when things are rosy but turn their backs on you when everything has gone.

Does that mean we shouldn't help again? No, even the Bible says we should continue to do good, whether they come to appreciate it or not, one day, our good deed will be appreciated by someone who would come back just like the one leper who came back to show gratitude.

My mom would always say to me that whatever I do, I should not take it that I'm doing it for anyone, I should always look up to God and just be kind. Because like you said, the heart of man is really wicked and if you think about it you might end up being wicked too. A well written story Princess... 🌹

That is it. The reason most people feel disappointed is that they expect to be given back what they gave and not looking up to God. Your mom is very right. We should just follow the Bible and keep doing our own, someday, God will reward us.

Hmm, this is the irony of life and sadly the so called nine lepers are blocking the way for genuine ones who will be grateful.

There's nothing wrong in her showing excessive kindness. The problem stemmed from the fact that she put her hope and trust in her money and the deed itself.

She should have put her trust in God and allow Him guide her to divine helpers

Exactly. They make the genuine ones not receive anything because we feel they might also turn out to be like the nine lepers. But that's not it. We must continue doing good.
Yes, she should have put her trust in God and not rely on those she has helped.

That's right.

Sometimes, our help does not come from those whom we have helped in the past rather God will channel a new path and send help for us from unexpected places and sources, so that we can give Him alone the glory.

If those we helped returned the favour, then we have received our reward and trust me, it pales in comparison to that which God wants to give to us if we can only trust him.

Have a lovely Saturday
