I normally keep my Florida man searches a little bit light-hearted because there so much apparently crazy stuff that happens in that wonderful state. I don't mean that in jest, I think Florida is one of the best places in USA once you get out of the major and expensive cities. Sure things are kind of strange down there and Miami is not at all representative of how the majority of Florida is.
Florida for the most part is not a modern metropolitan area and some people like to make fun of the folks that live there, and with good reason.
I do enjoy the crazy stories that come out of Florida though because some of the crimes that happen there would be assumed to be parody in other states but it is just a normal day in Florida.
Sometimes though, things happen that are so scary that they defy any sort of humor that could be gotten from it and I feel that a human head washing up on a beach is pretty damn gruesome.

The story itself is not humorous because what is funny about someone being decapitated at sea? Police are investigating, I can't imagine how or to what end, about what is going on here but it is just assumed that it is related to gangs and drugs - which I suppose is very plausible.
What IS funny about this whole thing is the reaction of the public to this happening. It seems as though the people of Florida have grown so accustomed to really crazy Sh*t going down in their state so something like this doesn't even get a strong reaction out of them.
“Everybody is extremely surprised, it’s highly unusual to find a body part on the beach”
One resident said and I don't know why I found that so amusing but I did. This seems like the reaction of a child that doesn't fully understand what is going on.

The news story didn't contain a great deal of information because honestly, what is there to really say?
It was funny to me that a bunch of quotes from local residents were obtained by a local Orlando news station and many of the people were complaining not about the fact that a human head washed up on the shore, but because of the fact that their morning walks were interrupted by police blockades.
“He signaled with his finger that I needed to turn around immediately,” she said. “I understood the assignment.”
I wonder how much of that statement had to be cleaned up by the news station.
Don't get the wrong idea here: I love Florida and all the Floridians I have ever met are wonderful people but if you speak to the people down there, they have a very "unique" was of speaking and viewing the world.
I think that for me if I lived somewhere and human heads started popping up on the shore, I would start to be a little bit alarmed about where it is that I have chosen to live.
Oh well, life goes on... well not so much for whoever the head belonged to. I tend to not worry about things like this ever happening to me but my security in such a thing kind of revolves around the fact that I don't do a whole lot of underground illegal stuff that would ever put me in a situation to lose my head.
I want my "Florida man" stories to be more wild than just your run of the mill decapitation via competing cartels. Something like this will do

Yes, that is a real story and you can read about it, and many other crazy Florida news at one of my favorite news websites.
In today's times of biased and mostly political news stories with conclusions that you already are aware of based on the political leanings of the provider, I find that I actually have a happier life by reading the absurd.
Florida is a really safe place by the way, just don't get involved in illegal things and your chances of having your head cut off at sea is very small.
Is there a law that you can't poop on wildlife in Fla? Or was the arrest for pooping in public?
I think I may have already mentioned one of my favorite authors, who is (was?) a Florida man who wrote about same. Harry Crews. His books are great.
