Purchase a unique domain on Namecheap
I would encourage people to compare domain registration prices with Cloudflare Domain Registration. For some top level domains (TLDs), Cloudflare are cheaper from the start. But even if initial registration is cheaper with Namecheap, renewals are usually cheaper with Cloudflare. So it makes sense to transfer before Namecheap renewal is due.
Note that you can transfer domains to Cloudflare at any time. And your renewal date is added to your existing date. So you don't lose any cheaper months that were included in registration fees.
I have no connection to Cloudflare. Other than being a satisfied customer.
I would advice against CF for the simple fact that if you register your domain with them, you can't use others for nameservers, and it's HIGHLY recommended to use separate registrars and nameservers in case one has an issue(you can easily move it out that way). I like Porkbun.
Thanks for the info, @rishi556.
I wasn't aware of the nameserver lock-in with Cloudflare. Though, in my case, it makes no difference. Because I have always used Cloudflare for DNS. But I will have to have a think about my situation if Cloudflare fails.
I haven't heard of Porkbun. So I'll take a look at their services.
Yeah, I tend to use CF for my nameservers, and have always stuck with the separate registrar and dns provider basically since I've heard of that. Porkbun is nice and cool, well priced(might not always be the cheapest, but you won't spend more than a few bucks more per year). They do free domains from time to time which is great!
Thank you for the advice. In the video I use namecheap but I will edit to mention that other providers can be used too.
Fantastic advice!
