I ran into this website called https://spoonfedstudy.com/ where they have this cool graphic on stepping outside your comfort zone. with 3 easy steps to get ahead of 99% of people.

It's about stepping outside your comfort zone to get ahead in life. found it quite amusing and I'd like to share this super simple progressive recipe with you.
It starts with realizing most people aren't doing anything!
Realize that most people aren’t doing anything
Most people spend binge watching Netflix or mindlessly scrolling through Tik Tok. Don’t believe me? At the time of writing, Tik Tok has 148.92 million users in the United States alone. Most people go through life like this: they find a job that allows them to pay the bills, they do the bare minimum, they come home and sit on the couch and watch reruns of Friends while making EVERY excuse for not going to the gym, learning a new language, starting a business or eating a slightly more healthy meal.
Most people are too lazy or too distracted, and it’s no surprise when we live in a day and age where apps are designed, with amazing precision, to give you the right amount of dopamine to keep you glued to your phone.
You’re different.
You are willing to step outside of your comfort zone in order to become a better you.
Let’s look at this three step system.
Go for one small win a day
The concept of a small win is doing an activity that requires minimal effort to complete, but that incredibly, most people are still not willing to do.
as the saying goes “Any journey starts with one step”. Try doing some things that can be easy to start changing your habits. Instead of doom scrolling on Tik Tok, listen to an educational podcast for 15 minutes. Instead of a soft drink, drink water. Spend 15 minutes working on a blog post. Do you live on the second or third floor? take the stairs instead of the elevator.
And if you’re able to track how many days in a row you’re able to have these small wins, do that too. As James Clear, author of Atomic Habits, puts it: the satisfaction of knowing you had one small win gives you a small but significant immediate reward. You don’t have to wait 12 months to see the result of going to the gym. That small reward will help keep you disciplined to continue having small wins.
Soon enough, these habits will become second nature to you, and it will be time to move on to step two.
Do one uncomfortable thing a day
One.
Take one step further outside of your comfort zone.
Do something that might cause you a little bit of anxiety.
If you feel uncomfortable reaching out to a potential client. do it anyway! write that email and get that scratched off your list. Maybe you’re uncomfortable talking to strangers. Go ahead and help someone with might seem like they need directions.
Whatever you chose to be your daily uncomfortable thing, remember that most people will not be systematically leveling up their lives like you. So go out there and do it.
And guess what. Even if you decide to stay here, at level 2, you’ll already be doing way for than most people. But if you decide to take one step further outside of the comfort zone, you must learn to embrace pain.
Do one painful thing a day
This is the third and furthest area outside of the comfort zone and yes, it sucks.
But guess what? with life comes pain and in my opinion it’s better to chose what kind of pain you want instead of sitting around and have life choose for you.
Choose, for example, the pain of doing a hard workout session at the the gym. Really put yourself out there and give it your all. And while your suffering, fight those thoughts of how hard it is and why you lost the genetics lottery with those big bones and look at the situation from a different point of view: Pain in the gym is not necessarily a bad thing. It’s a sign of growth of your muscles. And the same goes for other forms of pain, they are but another rep in the gym of life.
Embrace pain and take it for what it is. Another opportunity to get stronger, to be a little tougher for when life hands you another scoop of pain.
I had my small win for today by writing this blog post and it feels great!
What about you?

I stopped counting daily wins a long time ago, because I stepped out of the group of people around me in various fields. I dared to travel more than the people around me, accepted a responsible job that others didn't want (or dared), got into crypto...
I am currently in a phase where I have activities that sometimes make me anxious, but I also like them, because they bring me new excitement.
As our friend @ph1102 (thanks to whom I found your post), wrote the other day on the topic of "Freedom of choice", I completely agree with both of you.
It is important that you have the option of choosing and that:
I just need to dare to face that pain, because I already know what it is about😅
I will be glad to hear you tomorrow in #HHHlive, even if I don't dare to speak in the live show 🙂
Love this comment! Thanks so much and yeah I really think I should come say hi for #HHHlive tomorrow.
Great to read you're improving yourself all the time.
Thanks a lot for this post! It was exactly what I asked BEFORE seeing it... 😃
I had an idea for tomorrow's #HHHLive show title something like "Comfort Zone and Growth", and this post came as a perfect starting point! I will try not to forget to mention it tomorrow in the Ecency discord sharing some of the tips you shared!
I giggled when I saw this... 😃 Just a few weeks ago I did the Liotes presentation at the BuzzParty in Hamburg and that was causing tremendous anxiety, stress and everything else... lol... Before that, I was doing a presentation maybe 20 years ago (or more)...
But, despite all that, I would do it again! 😃
Have a great week!!!
Ah that's awesome! Happy you got to face your fears on stage at the BuzzParty. I haven't yet been able to go to a HIVE gathering, but I saw the Hive Fest just announced the location for this year. I'm looking to see if I can make it.
Is the show at 4:00pm UTC? (3 hours from now) I'd love to swing by to say hello.
It is at 4 PM UTC, but when you sent your message it was like 2 hours difference... Anyway, the best thing is to check out the official Ecency event notification... You can find it here https://discord.gg/V4SV3NqQ?event=1237372952798822461
See you in tomorrow! :)
super cool space! I'll be there next week too!
Thanks, man! It was great to have you!
It is a good programmed way to stop procrastinating my friend.
Personally, I innovate every day, I recently started singing and participating in the vibes contest, I learned to make pixel art, and now I just started a series of posts just for Fridays in which I tell about my character who He is a witch.
All these things focused on getting out of my comfort zone, so I support what you say, and I apologize for not going through your content so often, I will correct that habit.
I send you a !HUG, brilliant person!
I sent 1.0 HUG on behalf of @manclar.

Yes! love to see it! You're trying out a bunch of disciplines outside your comfort zone. I have not yet participated in Vibes music contest even though I was super into the Hive Open Mic weekly contest. I'll get into it soon. Let's keep stepping out of the comfort zone and embracing discomfort and pain, haha.
haha well if it doesn't hurt it's not worth it (virgins don't agree with this [joke]).
And I will be happy to see you on vibes, although I am very afraid that if you participate, you will win, because you are too monstrous my friend (I am being honest with you). 😀
Habits are powerful and we can use them in our favour. You are very right about the fact that most people prefer to do just enough to pay the bills. They even advise you not to move because they prefer you to be as mediocre as them.
I'm a fan of chaining habits (yes, I read the same book, hehe). 😃
Pd- I came here thanks to the ph1102 show announcement post. It would be great to hear you there tomorrow. 😁
The power of making very small changes to the way we live is incredible. It only takes a little effort to get the ball rolling.
I put tomorrow's show in my schedule to come say hi 👋
Came over from @ph1102's post!
Yeah I do agree with you, it's sometimes tough especially when life gets hard, but it's always good to start small and build the small wins!
This is the way! go for the small daily wins, you'll get into the habit soon and will start stepping outside your comfort zone more and more. I'm still learning about this myself, but it's definitely been motivating me lately.
Thanks for commenting!
You are welcome! Glad to have joined the discord event and also to hear you speak too! Agree with your point that it's a great community here on Hive! :)
Great post and definitely true!
I am someone who has a hard time to find motivation to get out of my comfort zone (read couch), but I am aware of it.
I am already putting effort on Hive which helps me to get educated more, especially on financial topics as I prefer these the most. Recently I decided to take the stairs at my office (6th floor), so far it's still a challenge but I'm sure that it will become easier sooner or later :D
Love to see it fren!
Yeah, the idea is to learn to embrace a little discomfort and even pain. Growing and improving can be uncomfortable. If we learn to embrace the discomfort as a part of growth, we'll be constantly improving.
I'm on this journey myself. Not a guru, not an expert, not a success story, just a regular guy looking to make small improvements every day.
I guess I am on the same journey :)
In terms of work, I like to discover new challenges as well. Got a boss who let me try out stuff and thus let me grow.
I'm convinced you'll succeed as you already got the right mindset! 🙌
This is very inspiring. It feels like I already have a lot of things that I'm putting off, so getting that 1 win a day should be helpful. Hopefully, I can start with exercising more, make it a habit, and build from there.
It only takes one small win! Once you get it you can do another one and so on. Pretty soon you'll be stepping further outside your comfort zone to start making those gains 💪
I think some people have limited dreams. Once they are able to get a job, they would not want to think outside the job. They stick to it and at the end of the day, it affects them a lot cos it will get to a point that the job won’t be able to feed them anymore.
Now, during their free time, they prefer to watch TikTok or instagram instead of investing in themselves
It only takes very small habits to start looking for small daily wins and stepping outside one's comfort zone.
Very good points Alex! I know exactly what this is about and am working on improving. Not easy but step by step.
I keep seeing these recommendations from different successful people. Two of which are James Clear in his book Atomic Habits and Stephen Duneier who did an awesome Ted talk on the topic. As long as we keep reminding ourselves to stay as consistent as possible at achieving small wins, we might be able to achieve just about anything :)
🙌🏻 Atomic Habits is also on my reading list.
It is a fact that if we always take care of ourselves then we will never be successful.
Hello @alex-rourke I woke up not too long and the first post I saw on my feed was yours, all I can say is thank you, I needed to read something like this to give me an extra push, I get too comfortable, and content sometimes that I don’t bother to do much and it sucks. I’ll start keeping track of my little wins every day so it motivates me to do more.
Thanks for sharing😃
You're very welcome!
I wrote this because I found it inspiring for myself and thought about sharing it with everybody. I'm happy you've found it useful too :) Go get those daily little wins.

Wow interesting post, I have seen this but didn't get enough time to read it properly. You have pointed out some great points. I am also trying something to step out of my comfort zone, I am sure slowly and steadily it is going to help me and I will sure going to see the benefits.
Great post as always. 🙏✌️
