My classmate noticed something about me, but since no one has said anything before, I might not be aware of it. They said I'm quietly good at writing and fast thinker. They even asked if I'm a writer. I just smiled because I didn't know what to say. I do write a blog, but not professionally. I'm not ready to tell them yet because they might expect more from me and I don't want any extra pressure on my studies. I just want to relax and pass, not compete for grades. It's only one semester at the private university and the cost and tuition fees have left a hole in my wallet. I won't see most of these classmates next semester BTW.
Our teacher's approach to educating us has changed. She doesn't want to follow the old school methods. Instead, she focuses more on the technical aspect of how things are done, rather than what is listed in the syllabus. Graded recitation and reflection after class is her top priority. She wants to evaluate our critical thinking skills, rather than just our knowledge of the content in the book. She wants to hear our own understanding of the topics she discusses. However, the other professor has a different approach, as they focus more on what is written in the book, so blended well.
This realization made me understand that my blogging has helped me develop skills I didn't have before.
As a country boy who speaks his native tongue daily, I first learned Filipino from school over the Iloko dialect at home. It was challenging for me to adopt Tagalog as the national language during my childhood because of my dialect and accent made boundaries. But starting in Kindergarten, I learned the national dialect, followed by the challenge of English grammar. Back then, being smart meant speaking and writing well in a foreign language.
Our professor only speaks English in class and is fluent. Some classmates struggle to keep up with her fast pace. I am lucky as I can understand her foreign English thoughts and take accurate notes. I developed fast typing skills through blogging and spelling is not an issue, as I am exposed to new words daily through writing and reading here in Hive blockchain.
It's now easier for me to take minutes of what she discusses, and it's all because of blogging.
She talks fast, but what I admire about her is that she doesn't repeat herself. There's always something new in every stanza I take notes on, and her explanations are always clear and concise. She's a veteran and speaks only from experience. She wants us to learn from real life experiences, not just what's in the book. Even when she discusses one point for an hour, my classmates try not to fall asleep, but somehow we understand as we have been in class from 5 to 7:30 PM after a long day of work
It's now easier for me to communicate in English with an accent, and it's all because of blogging.
Not everyone has good communication skills, and writing is easier than public speaking because we can edit, delete, and change words. But recitation cannot be undone. I know I have improved because when our professor asks sudden questions in English, I can respond fluently in the same language. Although I am a native Filipino speaker, my accent still differs from most you here.
I know that starting to blog was challenging for someone like me who was not naturally inclined to speaking English. It took years of hard work and study to adopt to the English-speaking community. However, I am proud of my exposure to cryptocurrency blogging, which has helped me develop my communication and writing skills. Not everyone possesses these skills, and I know I have them because I blog and write down my thoughts.
For new bloggers starting their journey here on Hive, I always say to just enjoy the moment and you will end up in a good place. Thank you for reading.

The more you practice, the more you can express your thoughts freely in English. I am honestly better in speaking than writing but it just happens that I like to write and it's something I do a lot. However, I am still nurturing the confidence to go public again as I actually quite enjoy public speaking.
Wow, that's impressive! I feel more confident in writing at the moment, but I'm still working on becoming a public speaker. Sometimes the words I want to say just get stuck in my throat and I end up with stale words, lol.
Wow sana all can do the recitation in English fluently. I admit that I am not good in English because I love math than English when I was still a student but I am still happy kasi kahit papano nakakaraos din Naman sa English ko Dito sa hive hahaha. Understandable ba English ko yonong? Hahaha
But you're right, blogging is really helping us improve in some aspects of our life.
I am one of those who prefer writing than speaking kasi nga may delete and edit sa writing eh hehehe
Haha developed nga siguro ate jean, kasi I am not like this before but now feels like I get to people eyes na whaha. Well I will be sure a public speaker in the next years so practice make perfect, kaya ga daily grind na ako today eh, I want to practice fast thinking and blogging para di ako stuck soon haha.
Wow! Sana all. Ako nahirapan parin mag construct, how to start it. Minsan my topic Ako but sometimes matagalan at Minsan di na makasulat kasi di makaisip how to start it. Mas focus lang Ako sa story or experiences telling hehehe.
It's fantastic that it's helped you with your studies and I think it's something that is largely overlooked. I realised a few months back that since I started writing on Hive, my typing has improved too and I even used some of my writing from my blog as examples of my writing abilities in my latest job application. Every thing we do on a regular basis can be an opportunity for growth if we embrace it 😉 lovely post.
I was not a fast typist before but over the years blogging exposure, I have developed the ability to type words without even looking at the keyboard. I can also take notes quickly even if the teacher is speaking fast, which will surely be my advantage too in my future job. Thank you.
Good for you guy. You have used your tool of blogging to best benefit you at many things. I'm proud that you have applied it to your studies most all :)
Thanks man, actually most Filipinos I knew and you knew were not into writing before, but thanks to read.cash, one of the platforms that helped develop my skills.
