Yesterday, we had three rooms leave so lots of cleaning and getting the rooms ready for the next people. This is obviously complicated by COVID. We are advised to leave the rooms to air before going in, so we ask guests to leave windows open and then we leave the rooms for at least one hour (preferably longer) before going in and stripping the beds. We then leave it for a little longer before performing a deep clean.
We had one guest arrive yesterday. It is not normal for this week to be so quiet, but we are busier than I thought we would be.
Today I had a trip around the market with the dogs.
They are testing for COVID at the town hall today. Open to anyone (just bring your ID and preferably your health card too), and it is free.
This is moral dilemma time for meā¦ do I have the test and risk being positive and having to close the business during peak season (and having to contact guests due to visit and return deposits they have paid)ā¦ but if I donāt take the test and Iām a carrierI risk passing the virus on to the guests (even though I wear a mask around my own home!)ā¦ I donāt feel unwell. But I am aware that there are a lot of people who have the virus but are symptom freeā¦ I really havenāt decided. It is also very hot (they donāt start until 10am) so Iām not sure I will be venturing out of the houseā¦ but that is just an excuse and I know it!

This pandemic has really complicated everyone's lives. It must be nerve-racking to depend on a work that is high-risk in these virus panic days. I noticed in the pictures that some people are walking the streets without mask. Is it because of massive reduction of cases or just refusal to abide by the mask rule?

Yeah, we just assume that we have it and everyone else has it and then try to act accordingly to be safe and try to prevent it spreading. The rules, in France, for mask wearing are that inside shops, bars, restaurants, public buildings, etc, you MUST wear masks. Outside it is now up to the local authorities. Some towns and cities insist that masks be worn at markets and in busy streets. That hasn't happened here yet. I wear my mask during market day in the streets, but many others don't.

Yes, I wear masks around the house when I am preparing and serving breakfast, when I am cleaning rooms etc. I think the general rule is: assume you have it, assume everyone else has it and then act accordingly!
