It is hard not to do some 'gorging' when some variation gets introduced to a routine diet for me. Rationing skills are some of the hardest to build and maintain for me because of things just like that where you ate way too much of something 'new' and got rendered into a food coma!
I got into the habit of putting new (or just tasty) items out of sight and hard to get to just to help circumvent the inclination. So far it works well enough but I also get things specifically to gorge on like grapes or strawberries... so go figure.
