Hi all you lovely Hivers,
So for me it's as Ken Kesey said in Tom Wolfes 'The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test' " you're either on the bus or off the bus" and this will be my all in attitude towards voting from this point. The casual browse and like shit is for faecesbook and I don't think it benefits anyone on this platform in the long term.
On the bus?
this morning I was thinking about the way I go about voting. I've always tried to keep it real, keep it organic and interesting. The Hivers I've encountered along the way have been pretty cool interesting and eclectic and this had me pondering. During todays early morning dump while I was browsing hive on the i pad, I thought if I like something enough to vote then I should really re blog and leave a comment and maybe even follow eh as if they've made one post that's caught my attention enough to stop and vote then there's probably going to be more. My vote isn't a whale vote (YET) but if i vote on your posts 100 times throughout the year then that adds up. So nurture and build relationships is certainly the way forward.
Building Relationships 🤣
This morning it was @fastchrisuk that caught my eye with the cool ass Lightpainting and then some travel stuff with @xcountytravelers which had me thinking back to my time in Colorado in the late 80's. Two more different posts and styles you could not get but for me they both entertained they both hit a nerve, scratched an itch and tickled my fancy, which as you can see in the above photo I am rather partial to.
Work harder
We have @nathanmars and @theycallmedan amongst others doing some hard work getting us all involved in getting the Hive word out there on twitter but once people are in the #hive it's up to all of us to make it the fertile creative place it should be.
Seeing some of the posts, be it photos or travel blogs you can learn much and it benefits us to put a bit of effort into it. It's easy to get a little disillusioned when you think you've put a great post together and it just doesn't get the traction you'd hoped for. But this could be for several reasons, maybe it's in the wrong community with the wrong tags or perhaps you are not engaging as much with people in the hive. @galenkp, @tarazkp, @bigtom13, @daveks, @dmilliz, @manoldonchev,@crazy-andy, @stevenwood, @slobberchops, @hidave,@juanvegetarian, @jerrytsuseer and @jaynie have kinda shown me the value of being involved even if it's just calling @krazzytrukker's cat a bit fat. This helps with everything in here and for sure will make the environment a much richer one even if not always in $ it's a great and positive platform and I think one goes hand in hand with the other. I think getting involved and the engagement with others is key.
On the bus or off the bus?
As #Hive grows so will the diversity of the communities and even the niche ones will start to have their own power players given time as the longer we are all in it the more we grow. Best keep it real and make the Hive flourish by doing the right thing.
off the bus?.... Nah I'm On!!!
Enjoy it or why bother & just be yourself !?
I'm still feeling my way and learning but what I do know is i do this because I enjoy it. It beats every platform online hands down and if one post doesn't do so well , hey it's not the end of the world. Do it, enjoy it, engage and the other rewards are a real bonus if they come. And the way I see it and as Ken Kesey also said
“Good writin' ain't necessarily good readin'.” Do what you like in whatever style you like. Beauty is indeed in the Eye of the Beholder
What a cutie!!!
Keep it in perspective
Come on! we ain't all gonna be crypto millionaires over night. Make the platform your own as thats the nature of it and with luck some results will follow. I've enjoyed the ride this far and in a short time seen the platform change a lot and it will continue to do so so GET ON THE HIVE BUS PEEPS!
Stay safe out there people wherever you are misbehavin' right now, take care
CIAO!
Relationships are important here, as you say, and we all know it takes time to build them, then more time to nurture them, but it's the best way forward and without them the vote-rewards won't come.

Yes, I meant to write that twice.
My vote isn't big, over $1 at 100%, and so getting a single vote from me isn't going to rock your world...But getting one a day, say 0.10 over 365 days of the year is a little better - $36.50. It makes sense then, to build relationships, to nurture them and get sustained rewards. Further to this is the people I know, the relationships I have made that others can tap into...I often send people messages asking them to vote on a particular post I found to be good...So, my 0.10 vote may end up being $2.00 when combined with the others, or more. Then I curate for @curangel...It adds up. And yet...People fail to build relationships preferring to Discord me with some fake reason and after two messages simply ask for my vote. Yeah...Nah.
People want quick rewards, some don't know better and some think it's best to post 24 times a day and hope to jag a whale of bot vote from somewhere. In reality that's not the way to go.
I removed the dollar value as a way of keeping score, and supplanted enjoyment in its place. Hive is a better place because of that, I write for me and my own enjoyment, rather than to appeal to some whale I don't even know, and I engage a lot with people, build and nurture relationships.
I'm a small account in the grand scheme of it, but I know that through engagement and relationships my account has grown from nothing...Yes, it's been over three years, but I have enjoyed those years...And so there's a reward all the way along.
People should just be themselves, have some fun and take the pressure off I think. I always look for passion, personality and effort and that doesn't mean they have to write war and peace or be a Rhodes Scholar...Just be themselves. Engage well and have some good posts for people to see when they drop past one's blog...It's a simple concept.
People are lazy though...I mean look at the weekend-engagement thing I do...Free hive, just for a comment...Why isn't more people entering? Well, sometimes the effort of taking 30 seconds to write a comment is just too much to bear.
Nice post here mate. :)
thanks bro. It's just how I'm feeling also. I like it when someone takes time to , for instance , respond to my coffee morning rant or something about whats happening at the dive shop. Thats really cool as you know they read the whole thing and digested it. I'll play the long game on here. Just keep it real. the lightpainters and the urbex guys are great value and theres a lot more out there. Anyone who loves traveling can find inspiration in the haveyoubeenhere stuff, something for everyone to read and as my missus did the other day, you can write about anywhere. A post about leicester that included an old sewage works pump won the day haha.
Exactly...Long game.
I understand what you mean...I get a buzz when I get a comment, it makes me happy. Sure I like votes too, but I know they will come if the relationship is there.
You're on the right track.
Engage, post well, don't be spammy with comments or posts, add passion, personality and effort...It's a simple formula.
this is the way as mando would say
It's righteous.
A good attitude to take especially for the new ones who just hopped on the #HIVE bus. For me, if a post doesn't get the attention it deserves then it just means that I've found another way that doesn't work. I've written a few decent articles that I felt should have gotten more upvotes but did not and it really is disappointing, but @scubahead is right,
Another good piece of advise for all of us. Building relationships should be one of the things to focus on in the HIVE platform. It goes a long way once you start to get to know the people behind the posts.
This post is full of valuable insights and nuggets of #hive wisdom. :)
thanks bro. Hope you are keeping well. Have you checked out Hummus Elijah yet? Can't remember if you said you'd already been there or not
No I haven't. Been busy lately so I just take a short peek on HIVE once or twice a day. Hummus Elijah sounds interesting. I will check it out for sure. Thanks for the recommendation bro. 👍👍👍
its amazing you would love it
Thanks man. I'm sure they have great offerings. Will drop by one of these days. 👍👍👍
There is a .gif here, I don't know why it is not showing in the preview I see.
Thanks to @diveratt I also jumped on the bus. I'm still a newbie and try to figure things out. But this platform is really interesting. You can read the topics you like and you don't have to go through all the bullsh*t like on Facebook. And like you say ... you have to think on the long term. I'm really enjoying it and in the process of setting up a community. But as I mentioned before, I'm still a newbie and I have to figure things out. It's not the easiest platform to start working with, but hey, I have lots of time 😅
Glad to have you on board the bus (plus your crew)!
:) i really enjoy the whole platform. It can only grow.
Yes, over the years I've seen bloggers come and go. Hope to see some of them return.
I kind of like the groove of it all. You can easily write or post about anything. What could be better?
Hmmmm, we need more participation in curation from whales sitting on Hive and not using it to empower others. Nothing like a decent reward to energize users. I remember 4 years ago when I got my first substantial vote, it was around $70 or so, and that really lit a fire under me. It’s not all about the money though, but if you continued to put out really good content, and rewards were minimal most of the time, people in general get discouraged and some if not most will leave. That’s why I vote on about 200 or so different Hivers.
thats very true, those big votes are really motivating and you're right alot of good content goes unrewarded. I think keep building and build a wide circle around you as you all grow all benefit and the circle will widen and grow over time
#posh
Yes, really good post right here.
No worries Auquaman... Samantha will heal from the horrible mental scars you have inflicted on her.
(Never call a girl fat... Even a CAT!!)
I tried to explain it to her that You were just mistaken due to her lovely long fluffy hair...
I got a look like this one...
Then She said to send you one of these...

aplogies to the good fluffy lady. She indeed looks unimpressed ;)
Hey! You could have made this into a Hi From Hive post to share your Hive experience with outsiders. It's a new initiative I've started recently, or you can always do another post 😉

But honestly, engagement is key to everything here. Forget about the financial side of things and focus on the fun side and everything will come together
oh bugger. i read your post about that as well. I'll get my thinking cap on for one for hi from 5 :) apologies you are right this would really have worked for that.
No apologies needed!
It's my job to go round and bug people 😂
Congratulations, your post has been added to Pinmapple! 🎉🥳🍍
Did you know every user has their own profile map?
And so does every post as well!
Want to have your post on the map too?
Thanks for the mention dude! I can't wait to actually see/ride on one of those buses in person. I have heard a lot of stories about them 😁 Keep on being awesome dude.
