Sincerely, I can't really remember anything from my childhood. My mind is quite blank but to answer to this question, I will share a funny memory I have bank when I was still in highschool. I have shared it before so I will drop the link to the post here as a source.
During my days in highschool, I so much loved phones. I can still remember that everyday I always denial myself of food so I could save money from the little I got from my parents to buy a phone. It became a custom to starve myself throughout school periods then run home to get something to eat as most times I stay without eating anything for over 8hours everyday. If I successfully buy the phone of my choice, after 4 months I get tired of it; most times it is either the phone get stolen, misplaced or I sell it off but the device never stayed with me for the period of over four (4) months.
My parents noticed my obsession over mobile phones and then plead with me to stop starving myself over using different phones. They were not happy of how I was looking as I was lean and wasn't really looking healthy. We came to an agreement that they would get me a phone way better than all those I have bought if I promise to eat well and take good care of the phone. I was quite happy with those terms and I agreed to them so far I will have an upgrade compared to the phones I have previously used.
I was quite shocked when they bought me an Android phone. At that time, android phones were quite new to the market as the trending phones were usually blackberry and symbian phones; I had used both blackberry and symbian phones but never an android phone. It was as if my brain should just burst, I was really happy having a new item in my collection of new phones. I couldn't wait to show my friends in school the phone my parents bought but I had to wait still Monday as it was on a Saturday I received the new android phone.
Bringing phones to school is prohibited but I carried phones everyday to school so why would I care about now when I have a special device to show my mates. I can say no student in that school has ever used an android phone so it is worth a show off.
Monday finally came, I didn't sleep through Sunday as my thought was how I would show my friends my new device. On Monday morning, as usual I parked my phone in my school bag as I left for school. I got to school early that day, told my friends about it and they were all calling me a "Big Boy". I didn't bring the phone out until after we had left the school premises when school was already over.
My whole friends plus classmates gathered far from the school premises checking out my phone. I had left it for them to be checking it out until it got to a point they began to fight and drag over my phone. As I saw this, I had to quickly collect my phone but unfortunately, as I was about collecting it, the phone dropped into a gutter filled with muddy water.
My heart seized for a bit then immediately I placed my hand into the gutter to pick my phone. My friends were just telling me sorry but I was angry and my thoughts were "This phone is only three (3) days old, my parents will kill me" 😭😭😭. I was like if only I just left it at home 😭😭😭.
With anger, I left that vicinity for my home filled with emotions of sadness, anger, regret. I didn't know what to tell my parents but only had the hope that the phone would revive if I would let it dry. I got home but I couldn't eat, I went straight to bed after removing the phone's battery and placing them under the fan in the house.
In the dream was when I had the most regrettable thoughts ever which was because I was unrest. I didn't know what spoke to me but I stood up, looked at my phone; seeing it had not dried one bit, immediately I took the phone then placed it to warm in a microwave oven. I didn't realize what I was doing until I heard a sound as loud as a gun shot from the microwave oven; that was when I realized what I had just done. I instantly opened the oven to see my phone was burnt; this time I really felt like dying, it felt as if I should enter the ground. I brought my phone out filled with tears and regret realizing I had just done the most stupidest thing of my life. It became one of the most unforgettable moments of my life.
If someone tells me that I would do such a thing, I would not believe it. So I leave you to use your imagination to complete the story of what would have happened after the whole scenario. How do you think I would have explained what happened to my parents and friends? How do you think my parents would have reacted? if you were me, what would you do? If you were my parents, what would you do? If you were my friend, what would you say? you can kindly reply in the comment session below.
