Hello everyone, how are y'all doing today? As for me, I'm doing great 💪. It's another exciting day, welcome to my blog.🤗

My Definition of Critical Thinking

Critical Thinking is the ability to process the information at my disposal thoroughly, critically without being biased and come up with a possible solution to solving the problem at hand.

The Importance of Thinking Critically, and Why

The ability to think critically is very important and cannot be overemphasized. The reason is simple, alot of people in the society we found ourselves today especially in the socal media tend to give out information at will. It is expected of one to process and analyze such information critically to find out how authentic it is before making do with it and this can only be possible through critical thinking. With AI you can create a video of me mimicking my voice, if you don't observe closely you won't be able to tell the difference between the real and AI generated one. With Critical Thinking you begin to observe, analyze, criticize and come out with informed judgement as to the true state of the information at hand.

Does Everyone Have Critical Thinking Skills?

Critical Thinking Skill is not inherent in everyone. That is why some people believe everything they see or read from people or public domains. For instance, before the swearing in ceremony of American President Donald Trump, a friend of mine sent me a video of Trump talking about how he was going to free one freedom fighter detained by a particular Government in one of the African countries. After severally watching the video with kin observation I noticed it wasn't real. So I called to tell her it wasn't real but unfortunately she believed what she saw. So, not everyone has the ability to think critically. However, it could be developed and nurtured.

How To Develop Critical Thinking

Critical Thinking Skill could be developed through reading good books and articles that provoke thought, by observing and pondering over other people's opinions regardless of whether it aligns with yours or not and asking questions. It helps to interact with our thoughts thereby analyzing and pointing out different opinions which makes for right decision taking.

Societal Role In Teaching Others To Think Critically

As a society critical thinking could be inculcated in the school curriculum. Students should be mostly engaged in activities that require cognitive behaviour. Instead of memorizing they should indulge in group tasks where they'll perform specific tasks, afterwards they'd be asked some questions and they too will ask questions in turn.

In conclusion, critical thinking is essential to our everyday life. Developing it will help one to break free from baseless assumptions and come up with facts without being biased.

Thanks for reading and engaging.

unfortunately she believed what she saw

Yep, sometimes it is difficult for someone to change their mind about something for two reasons: 1) Their ego, it is difficult for some people to accept that they were wrong and believed someone who deceived them. 2) They cling to what they believe because they have many emotions tied to that thing they believe, and it is very difficult for them to change their mind through logic and reason.

It's a very interesting way, and in the end they can also learn to debate in an appropriate way about different points of view on the same topic. Which could help them when they are older to listen to people who don't think the same as them without having to fight.
