Ouch those squirrels can be mean when hungry. Late winter around here you can go squirrel fishing. Just tie a pecan or other nut at the end of a string and they squirrels will chase it down.
Haha, that's cute, you wouldn't get that close to our squirrels here. Maybe in the city parks where they are used of people walking around, but on the countryside they are more shy than anything else :)
You might be right, and I think it also has woken up from winter dormancy not so long ago.

I wonder what he eats up there in the mountains, baby groundhogs maybe?
Maybe, if the groundhogs / marmots don't bite the snake to death, but I would rather say they eat mice and frogs and such.

Yeah those ground hogs could thrash a snake like that.
I was bitten once by a squirrel and don't ewant to imagine the bite of such big yellow teeth 😆
