Anger Can Be Constructive

People see anger as a problem, a negative feeling that must be eliminated at any cost. And, in fact, that's really it! Anger is not healthy. In this article I took care to separate the expression of emotions from the expression of anger. There is a huge ocean that divides these two points.

The feeling of anger is part of the basic emotions of the human being. And, really, it is something common in the experiences of people in general. Some common themes are triggers for this type of emotion like injustice, loss, indifference, lies, betrayal, unexpected negative actions and so on.

Other people have the same feeling of anger when their soccer team loses, when someone thinks differently from them, when they are not accepted in their own ideas, the central and preferred character of a series leaves its line of interest and conduct, and so on. The point here is to break consistency with their own values.

Anger is really complicated. In fact, it is an unbalanced way of expressing emotions. A more mature person is one who knows how to digest feelings before exposing what he thinks or feels. It is understood that it is an emotion with destructive power for you and the people around you. Although it is thought to be a way of "fighting", of "justice", of "power", there are many other good ways of solving an existing problem.

Whoever suffers from anger, suffers from imbalance. It usually shows outbursts of lack of control, impulsiveness and aggressive manner (speech and action) because of the feeling of anger, as if the action was appropriate for the emotion. Our attitudes must be chosen with consideration of consequences and not just because we feel that we must act. This also can be applied when people want to say everything they are thinking. The ideal is to be sincere, but never brutally sincere. This act of extreme sincerity is practically an aggressive, angry act.

But, after all, is it possible to find something good in anger? The energy that is the basis of this feeling, when well "channeled", redirected, used through a new way of acting, choosing more appropriate forms of expression, can be positive and transforming, generating a delivery of positive and prosperous results. The force of change can set a specific course for unique actions with surprising outcomes.

The best way to use the energy that moves anger in a healthy way is to be able to learn that emotions can be felt, even if they are bad, but that never justifies venting, letting out and leaving completely dismayed. Committing insane, unbalanced or even shameful acts as an option for action because of anger is not the best way to live life. Although for some it is very difficult to get out of the most pampered, limitless or childlike mind, it is necessary to grow and adapt to social rules.

For the maturation to be lighter, psychotherapy sessions can be indicated with techniques of the new code of Neurolinguistic Programming, Ericksonian Hypnosis, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), life coaching and brief therapy, just to name a few. During the process, it is possible to identify family patterns, rigidity of conduct, mental mistakes, cognitive distortions, traumas and other issues that may be hindering self-control and better management of emotions.

It is so good when we discover how to deal with anger and a rigid conduct towards situations and all steps we give in our everyday life. It is something considered to be a life-saver and if people cannot pay for treatments it is also possible to join groups or even find doctors who do that for free in certain occasions for those who can’t pay. In the meantime, breathe deeply, calm your inner self and react in a tranquil manner towards life and all the happenings around you.

Really nice post as usual. I think one of the main things we need to clear away is the idea that anger is naturally bad, wrong or destructive. All emotions have that potential, but they're all part of our life and there are always ways to improve our relationship with them! Blessings!

¡Excelente análisis de la ira! Creo que así como el fuego, la ira es necesaria, ya que permite poner a raya ciertos aspectos que no queremos en nuestras vidas. Muy interesante las alternativas que ofreces para manejar la ira. Un gran saludo.
