RE: Searching for a Simpler Way of Life

In modern times, everything costs money, so you keep jumping through the hoops and each new hoop they add in order to survive, with a fear in the back of your mind, what if you end up in a position where you can no longer jump through those hoops? How do you feed yourself and your family when you don't have money?

I get so angry about this. We work our bollocks off to survive, but you never get a break for doing things that make you LESS dependent on the system. If I ruled Australia, I'd give tax breaks to people who grew their own food!

I feel angry that my parents worked in the system and did the right thing for years, but if Dad needs this new cancer treatment if his cancer comes back, it'll cost 500 K and they'll sell their house for it.

Everything is surveilled and packaged up. I hate it when stores say 'what's your postcode/do you want a storecard' and look at you funny when you say 'no thanks' - because I don't WANT you to gather my data for a 'better consumer experience'.

If a bee scans my face, I'm happy. If an eagle drones by me, I'm happy. If i have to pay greens and oats for entry into my chicken coop, I'm happy.

My community garden meet up tells me what's possible all the time. They're all growing food so they don't have to rely on supermarkets and I love this independence. I wish we could unite even further.

Oh well, back to Indian visas and credit cards for travel insurance and passport and licence numbers - how else can we go 'home' and back again with countries in between? Stamps and scans and signatures and cameras.

And we are all letting this happen here in Australia because they've put the fear of god into us, telling us it's for our own good - safer, more convenient.

Can I swear?

Bollocks.

Providing for yourself is only okay if it benefits them. When you end up jobless and apply for centrelink they'll love it if you've got enough stashed away that they don't have to shell out until you're completely broke. No rewards for looking after yourself.

I was wondering how your father was going. Glad to hear he's in remission and hoping he stays that way. Illness is bad enough without having the concern of losing your home to get well.

Swear away, swear away... it can be therapeutic.
