Good morning everyone,
I want to wish you all a Happy Easter in arrears. It was a wonderful celebration yesterday and I do hope you all had fun with your loved ones!
The day before yesterday, just as usual during festive periods, we made tomatoes and pepper stew with lots of fried chicken and meat with the hope of eating it with either rice or pounded yam on Easter day.
To my suprise, once we got back home from church and I was about to cook Rice for my family, then my brother insisted I made something different. They point out the fact that we've eaten lot of rice in the past and we should eat something different. So I suggested Yam Porridge and they both agreed.
Porridge is a food I love cooking and my family usually enjoys it. I do love to cook it whatever nice ingredients and spices I could find at home which will give it a delicious taste. Below I will be sharing with us how I make my yam Porridge.
I used:
- Yam
- Dried fish
- Cooked stew
- Maggi seasonings
- Curry
- Thyme
- Ball pepper
- Onions
- Salt
- Palm oil
- Vegetable oil
In addition to those, I usually add crayfish if available but it wasn't yesterday. Also I've finished cooking before I remembered I should have added some vegetables to it. It usually gives it a beautiful look, and some lovely taste.
Let's start!!!
PROCESS OF COOKING
The first thing I did was to peel the yam and rinsed them in clean water and salt.
- After that, I added some of the stew I cooked the previous day to it.
- Next, I rinsed the Dried fish, remove the bones and added it to the yams.
- Next I added the Maggi seasonings.
- After that, I added some little salt, curry and Thyme as seen below.
- Then I added the pepper and onions.
- Finally, I added the palm oil and little vegetable oil, cover the pot, put it on fire and allow it to cook on medium heat.
- Next I waited for the yam to be soft enough for breaking, then I used spoon to break the yams to form the porridge. I usually love to break just a small amount so as to leave some yams intact.
Once the food was ready, I served my two brothers first cus by that time they were already so hungry. I added a piece of meat and ponmo to the oldest cus he loves it but the youngest doesn't.
I also decided to serve it with a chilled Chi exotic juice drink.
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT MY PORRIDGE RECIPIE, IS IT SOMETHING YOU WILL TRY OUT?
THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY, DO HAVE AN AMAZING WEEK.
ESPANOL
The redness of the poridge is divine I must say.. I like adding fish to mine as well cooking it. I add only oil to mine.
Lol, thank you dear. The reason why I love to add the vegetable oil is because, when it's cold the palm oil usually sleeps(if you know what I mean). At that point, the vegetable oil will do its work of making it look nice. I only add just little vegetable oil compared to the palm oil.
Yeah, I noticed the vegetable oil was smaller, compared to the red oil. I now understand why you added it, I thought it was because you wanted to have extra oil in there.
Nahhhh, I hate it when oil is too plenty inside food. Now you Don learn something. Come and pay me😌😃😃

It's my first to see that kind of porridge. It looks like worth it to try. In our country, we call that as lugaw but most of their ingredients are only glutinuous rice, chicken broth (I think) and a pair of boiled egg. But I like porridge if they will use scrambled egg hahahahahha
Really? That's amazing. You should try out this recipe, I'm sure you will like it.🥰.
