Chef Lim Restaurant // Curry Laksa Noodle!

Recently, we saw a review from a friend about a delicious curry laksa nearby our area, which my husband and I were surprised that we did not know about it. Therefore, we decided to give it a try. Let's!

Chef Lim Restaurant

Location: Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur, Taman Setapak, Jalan Cengal, No. SH17邮政编码: 53000

When we arrived at the venue, we understood why we seldom come to this place although it was near us. Because this area can be quite jam during peak hour, as well as difficult to find car park, one just had to find a spot to park at the road side at your own risk, there is no proper car park at all for customers here.

Still, so many gave great reviews about this shop and stated that it was worth the inconvenience.

It was located at a shoplot, this whole shoplot has a few Chinese restaurant, Chef Lim Restaurant is one of them.

My husband, myself and our youngest son purposely came here at off-peak time so that we could find car park easily and that the restaurant would not be crowded. We came at 3pm.

The restaurant opens daily at 8am and closes at 10pm. Such diligence! I believe they have two teams operating it, otherwise everyone will be exhausted at the end of the day.

Ambience

It is not a big shop, just one shop-lot, but it is clean and tidy. And customers won't feel crowded due to proper arrangements of chairs and tables.

Menu

The menu is not exhaustive. Mainly they have roasted chicken, barbecued pork belly and roasted pork belly. These proteins would be served with your choice of noodle or rice. The rice is in chicken rice form, meaning cooked with chicken oil and some other aromatic. The noodles of choice have usual yellow noodle, rice vermicelli, flat rice noodle and Wantan noodles. For noodles selection, you can choose whether you want dry noodle or clear soup noodle or curry laksa soup noodle. They have 'nasi lemak' too. I think it is a great spot for family with young and old.

We were here for the curry laksa as recommended by our friend!

Signature Curry Laksa

My husband said since he came here to try the one his friend recommended, it got to be signature curry laksa because it was the most expensive one. It came with hearty laksa soup, chicken, roasted pork, bbq pork belly, cockles, pork skin, beancurds, fish balls and vegetables... my husband's choice of noodle had got to be the flat rice noodle, he said only this noodle will absorb all the soup deliciousness. True true...

The portion was so huge!!!

The soup was so umami spicy with a balance of coconut milk creaminess yet not too creamy until hard to swallow. Its curry soup was more towards the Chinese curry instead of the Indian style, just like the taste of home. Yums!!!

As for me, I took the cheaper version of curry laksa noodle which consisted only the chicken, roasted pork and bbq pork belly. I chose rice vermicelli mixed with flat rice noodle. The portion was so big, I actually could share it with someone else. Love the curry soup a lot!

We ordered wantan noodle with chicken feet for our youngest son because he was craving chicken feet. Initially, he was not hungry, so I packed his noodle into container in food warmer. Later on, he said he was hungry, so he happily gobbled his delicious chicken feet and noodle at the shop. My husband and I got to try the Wantan noodle and it was yummy!!!

I saw most customers who came after us ate their chicken rice, so I assumed the chicken rice would be delicious too. Next round!

So yup...

These were our delicious lunch! Glad we found this gem!

Three layer milk tea!

Oh yes, we also ordered one 3-layer-milk tea consisted of a layer of liquid palm sugar, a layer of evaporated milk and the tea layer. Super love it.

We are thankful for times like this when we able to eat out. We still need to budget properly as in eating one only once or twice a week, the remainder days I would cook simple budget healthy food at home. Thankful that husband let me rest twice a week from cooking, hehe. And I got to eat something else that don't taste like Jade's cooking, lol.... Let's us be grateful for life.

These restaurants are always a surprise, sometimes it seems like the more complicated they are to access the easier it is to discover hidden gems hahaha. I usually go on purpose at times when most don't usually go, it makes the experience easier, although this place has a very convenient schedule, definitely operating the kitchen all day is a great job that must be recognized.

If the recommended dish is signature, you definitely have to try it hahaha beyond the price it looks great. I had no idea about the absorption of the flat noodles, that I note, it is something very useful.

Your little one's dish looks delicious, I'm not surprised he picked up the hunger hahaha. These family outings are a nice way to get away from the routine and explore new flavors, it's great that you take advantage of those moments to discover and share your experience with us.

I read your description of the dish you ate and it makes my mouth water hahaha I know that the base broth of the Laksa soup is not so easy to achieve if you don't have practice, so I'm glad this experience was good. Keep enjoying!

Yeap, totally agree on the hidden gem at the most complicated road or places. But very worth to find them out.

Yes, authentic curry laksa soup is not easy to make, this shop had cooked it so perfectly. Nowadays, there are many pre-made curry laksa soup paste but fortunately this shop cooked from scratch using recipe passed down. Typing this, I feel like eating it again. Slurp..
Thank you for dropping by my post.🥰

I love to go in search of places like this, sometimes I've ended up in strange places but in the end I've always eaten well hahaha, it's quite an experience.

That's just what I thought about while reading your post, those concentrated stock that are all over the place, good thing this is not the case. Well well, hopefully you can go back soon and keep trying things there, I see that the restaurant is promising hahaha.

Wow this place look so traditional isn't it? I like these kind of places remind me a familiar and simple atmosphere ❤️ the dishes looks superb and have the look of a comfy food, and what a wide menu!! So many choices!!
