What to eat in a Sunday Morning?

Every morning brings a spoonful of happiness. And Oh, Christmas time is coming, the cool breeze is so refreshing. And Yes, one of those is going to the wet market. This is my daily routine because I want my produce fresh. You'd tell me ,it’s pandemic, and I might as well avoid going to the market daily and just buy and stock food. Thank you but I did try however it really didn't last long as expected. And again, the ambience of the market, busy people wandering from one vegetable stall to another, the smell of fried egg and fried garlic rice, colorful dragon fruits, grapes, apples and oranges, coconuts, watermelon and the crunchy, fresh, healthy bok-choy, asparagus, spinach, carrot, radish, beans and the noise of consumer bargaining with the vendors, It's simply bringing the simple happiness to me.

And this is what happened this morning. My partner came home at 4am from their company get together and of course he was drunk and starving. I was expecting pasalubong ( things and foods that are usually bought by a person who visited a certain place to give to the people upon his or her return) but came empty-handed. And the worst thing of all he was still asking for something to eat. So we decided to drop by the wet market and eat something.

I thought I was able to capture the great photos of the things/food I wanted so I can post them here however when I come home they’re not on my gallery so I am just posting these photos that are left on my phone.

THE TYPICAL FILIPINO WET MARKET

So we started eating at this small noodle/food stall located at the entrance of the market. We ordered pancit bihon, chicken noodle soup, pancit palabok and maha blanca to go. These are the kinds of noodles we have here in the Philippines.

Please excuse my pancit bihon. I could not wait to eat it so I was about to finish before I took the photo..

Sadly, I thought I was able to take the photos of the kakanins (sweet varieties of sticky rice cakes) but some photos were gone. I might have accidentally deleted it. Also, my partner already ate the puto bungbong (Filipino purple rice cake steamed in bamboo tubes) and was not able to take a photo. Anyways, here are the photos I have left. Introducing our favorite Kakanins here in the Philippines.

Since I am a tea lover, my morning will not be complete without my ginger, lemon tea. Warm tea in the morning is healthy and beneficial to our health. So I make sure that I prepare one for me and my partner while children enjoy their favorite hot chocolate. I’ll make sure they’ll learn to have this morning tea too.

Steeping..

There are many vegetable stalls in this market and I normally wander around to check which stall has the freshest and cheapest produce. And believe me it’s really time consuming and tiring at the same time.

Snapshot from a vegetable stall.

I also bought pork ribs and boneless bangus (milk fish) for lunch today. I will cook nilagang pork ribs (Filipino pork soup in clear broth) and fried boneless bangus marinated in vinegar, lot’s of garlic and soy sauce. I’ll surely share my version of some Filipino food recipes in my next blog.

That's what my Sunday morning is like. How about Yours? Let’s talk again later!
