Hi Everyone,

Kosaku Kawaguchiko was a highly rated restaurant around the area near the glamping site so we decided to give it a go. It specialises in a special flat noodle which is famous for the area. We didn’t make a booking so decided to go a little early to get a table. Luckily, there were plenty of seats due to the size of the restaurant.

There were lots of variety of noodles with a few options of rice. There was even horse meat if you want to try. The staff told us we only need to order 3-4 serves which is sufficient for the family. We ordered a seafood noodle, special combo noodles and a prawn tempura rice box. It was extremely cold that night but the restaurant was fully heated with smaller heaters next to each table.

The food came quickly and it was perfect for a cold night. Unfortunately the noodle soup bases were nothing too special in our opinion though the noodles itself was quite chewy, pretty nice. It was very soft but chewy, easy to slurp down. We were a little disappointed with the taste but we did finish everything as it wasn’t bad, just wasn’t up to the hype with the high feedback online.

Service was great, staff was friendly though the old lady at the front desk was pretty rude. I think she would be the rudest person we encountered for a very long time in Japan. It actually reflected badly on the restaurant as the rest of the staff were lovely, all with smiles. I’ve read only that this lady does get very moody but we also experienced this ourselves which made us not want to go back again after we paid our bill.

I think most Japanese restaurants retain the traditional image. I love their cute table arrangement, even the menu is written fully in Japanese too. I love shrimp tempura also. This meal is really satisfying to look at. I thought the creamy soup broth looked delicious but you were not satisfied with it. Perhaps the old lady at the front desk had a terrible day. Friendliness to customers is given much importance in Japan.

I thought the lady had a terrible day but by the reviews online, she is always like that. I guess old people don't care and are over it
