RE: CineTV Contest: Scorsese: A God Among Mortals

in CineTV3 years ago

What a great choice, Scorsese is such a great director. I haven't seen a film of his that I don't like and all the actors performances are always great in them.

I only watched Gangs of New York again last week, I love that film! Daniel Day Lewis is great in that movie, he steals every scene he's in, even when he's not speaking.

I was talking with my girlfriend during the scene where he is trying to call out Brendan Gleesons character. The camera work is great as it starts with Bill small and low in frame, with the monk standing dominant above him. Then when Bill kills him it changes to Bill being big and imposing in the shot.

"This is you, notch number 45. You mick, bug, bastard."

Haha Bill the Butcher has so man great lines in that film.

He really really does! I was talking to someone about Daniel Day-Lewis a couple of weeks ago because I chose Daniel Plainview as my favorite villain...lolol It was so good to go through his memorable roles to someone who was not familiar with his greatness!

Thanks for taking the time to comment and for reading my post!

I believe you are referring to our conversation, I didn't know it was him as Bill and that role was great!

It's funny finding a great actor you didn't know well but that acted in great movies you like.

It was our conversation! We've had some good ones on here! Yes, I agree to find an actor who truly "fits" the role is magic!

Gangs of new York is one of my favorites Scorcese movies!

The camera work in that scene is really well done
