I have to say that these contests by @cinetv are never, ever easy to do, but there are so much fun writing once you make a decision. This week is no different with the query of who our favorite director might be and my mind literally began to spill trying to determine who I would crown as my favorite captain of the cinema ship! There are so many vast and varied directors who are so very near and dear to my heart, but, in the end, only one shown like a beacon in the darkness.....the mythical, Martin Scorsese!
You could literally throw a dart at a list of the greatest movies from the last 50 years and there is a very solid chance that you would hit a Scorsese masterpiece in the process, he is that good! lolol For me, the Godlike status he has achieved as a director can be attributed to his dedication to his craft, his adoration for cinema, and his ability to adapt and overcome to the changing times. I feel he intimately knows a stellar story when he sees it and he knows the human conditions so perfectly that his ability to tell us a tale is akin to the Pied Piper leading us to the movie house!
In fact, he is such an epic director that I would be hard pressed to even pick out my favorite of his films. I adore so many of his films from Raging Bull to Taxi Driver to Goodfellas to The Departed to Gangs of New York and so on and so on....my list of favorites is almost all encompassing of his entire body of work and the ones I mentioned above just so happen to be the ones I find myself missing like a long-lost friend and so I revisit them from time to time to rekindle our affection for each other..lolol
I'm looking forward to reading the other entries to this contest, but I don't imagine anyone, even with the quill of a master, could sway me in my opinion of one of the greatest directors of all time.
I thank you so much for coming by and reading my post. Am I wrong? Is there one greater than Scorsese? Let me know in the comments. And remember I love you all!

What a great choice, Scorsese is such a great director. I haven't seen a film of his that I don't like and all the actors performances are always great in them.
I only watched Gangs of New York again last week, I love that film! Daniel Day Lewis is great in that movie, he steals every scene he's in, even when he's not speaking.
I was talking with my girlfriend during the scene where he is trying to call out Brendan Gleesons character. The camera work is great as it starts with Bill small and low in frame, with the monk standing dominant above him. Then when Bill kills him it changes to Bill being big and imposing in the shot.
"This is you, notch number 45. You mick, bug, bastard."
Haha Bill the Butcher has so man great lines in that film.

He really really does! I was talking to someone about Daniel Day-Lewis a couple of weeks ago because I chose Daniel Plainview as my favorite villain...lolol It was so good to go through his memorable roles to someone who was not familiar with his greatness!
Thanks for taking the time to comment and for reading my post!
I believe you are referring to our conversation, I didn't know it was him as Bill and that role was great!
It's funny finding a great actor you didn't know well but that acted in great movies you like.

It was our conversation! We've had some good ones on here! Yes, I agree to find an actor who truly "fits" the role is magic!
Gangs of new York is one of my favorites Scorcese movies!
The camera work in that scene is really well done

Scorsese is undoubtedly one of the best filmmakers. He is a master of what they call sequence shots, his characters are imperfect and for him the camera works in function of his characters. Excellent your criteria to choose this director. It's hard to say which of his films I like the most, but The Invention Of Hugo Cabret is great, a tribute to cinema itself, and perhaps the least violent of Scorsese's films. Mind you, I'm also a fan of the more violent ones.
It is so hard to pick a favorite! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Wow! That was fast! 😄
I admire Martin Scorsese, he's one of the best director of all time. I particularly like his works with Leonardo DiCaprio. He featured him in some of his films.
I'll start working on my entry. Gosh, I have a list of directors I admire. It's going to be tough to pick one or two. 😄
Nicely done. !PIZZA 😊
It was so hard to narrow it down to just one and his partnerships with DiCaprio are some of my favorite films for sure. Thanks for commenting!
You and your Scorsese! In truth, I'm stumped on this one, I have an idea bubbling just under the surface though - will see how it comes out tomorrow!
Nice, I'm looking forward to see what you come up with. Scorsese was my final choice but there were so many others that could have easily fit this bill. Thanks for commenting!
It always seems like chosing the topic is harder then writing the cinetv contest entry XD
This is a difficult task for many reasons, but specially because taste is subject and Scorcese is great! At most I think it would be possible to sway your opinion about someone else being better than Scorcese.
Btw, what were the other options you struggled with?

I think with any true movie lover there is a vast internal struggle whenever the question of choosing your "best" or "favorite" aspect of any film or genre. We love the very essence of cinema so narrowing it down to singularity is often very arduous!
Thanks so much for your continued support and for always having such interesting comments. It is so refreshing and very much appreciated!
Indeed, it's often much easier to just say "x" are my top favorites without ranking them.
Thank you for your kind words and compliments! It makes me really happy to interact and know I'm adding something to the Blockchain and folks day
A legend, my favorite Scorsese movie is Gangs of New York 😊
That is one of my favorites as well! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Wow! Only the word you used and how you describe him make me know your love for him, your entry is full of wow!!🥰
Thank you for commenting.
You are welcome
Scorsese is a master at finetuning the movies to be just controversial enough to understand the message, yet being very accessible to the general public and the different generations.
While I did not participate in the contest, I feel that an honourable mention to George Lucas should still be in order. Disregarding my bias of loving the Star Wars universe, many of the technological gadgets envisioned by him are slowly becoming a reality in our world nowadays and might not have been for years to come if he hadn't portrayed them to the general public wrapped in a science fiction package so many years ago.
Also a big thank you for founding the cinetv movement papacrusher, while i have not yet dropped any movie posts myself due to lack of time, i have already discovered multiple movies & series to look into on my leisure time.

I concur 1000%, he had a gift of seeing what could be possible and representing that in film.

You do yourself a disservice Mr Crusher - we have an awesome bustling community because of your leadership. I don't think I've added anything in a while
