Education Hive

There are over 60 million teachers and 750 million students in the world today. We need to bring them to the Hive Blockchain.

Education-hive's goal is to empower educators to empower their students and to help provide an education to anyone with a desire to learn regardless of geographic location or economic status.

Our dreams are huge. Some day, we plan to be able to:

  • Offer content courses
  • Develop educational technology and apps
  • Share lesson plans
  • Provide how-to and tutorial video
  • Facilitate one-on-one tutoring
  • Encourage educators to share ideas and problem solve
  • Allow for students from around the world to collaborate
  • Create a knowledgeable and active alumni to help future community members

We have begun by searching for and rewarding the best educational content on the Hive Blockchain. Our project has voted 18729 times for 1310 unique content creators. With more HP, we would recruit and retain more educators and students and make our dreams a reality.

This project is 100% not for profit. We have used all of the rewards generated by the account to either rent delegation or to power up in order to encourage and retain high quality educational content creators.

We will support:

  • High quality, original educational content
  • Videos that teach lessons or provide examples
  • Technology/apps created for the classroom
  • Lesson plans
  • Assessments
  • Teaching materials
  • Educational stories
  • Labs and experiments
  • Advice
  • Educational games
  • Teaching methods which can be applied in the classroom
  • Properly cited material

We will not support the following:

  • Plagiarized material
  • Low quality material
  • Offensive material
  • NSFW material
  • Material lacking proper citations
  • Improperly formatted or grammatically incorrect content

Please join our community and help hive.blog become a leader in the world of education!

We are hoping that there will be tools available to allow us to rent HP in order to support the education community here on Hive.

You do realize you could pin ONE post to the top of your community instead of repeating this daily for autovotes, right?

We're glad you asked. We understand your question and appreciate the opportunity to explain. We will try and do it quickly.

For the past couple of years as steemiteducation on steem, we were trying to build an educational community. We started this long before the official community feature existed. Basically a very small team donated their time to curate and reward quality education related posts. Unfortunately, as the value dropped, it became more and more difficult to provide enough rewards to encourage content creators. We decided to start using minnowbooster to rent SP that was then used to vote on education related content. In times when that became inefficient, we rented SP directly from individuals. We used 100% of the proceeds from a daily post to pay for this SP that was then spread to many content creators over the years. We found that supporters of the project preferred to vote on one main post that fueled the acquisition of SP rather than simply following our votes.

Since moving to Hive, we changed this main account to @education-hive since calling ourselves something related to steem seemed like a bad idea. We still vote for all the posts using the HP of @steemiteducation and we hope to continue to build @hive-education to support quality posts.

Since moving, we have found it difficult to rent HP. First, minnowbooster which utilized steemconnect , is gone. It seems the only way to access its replacement is by using the hive key-chain. We are not comfortable granting the permission required by the key-chain. We have not found any individuals who are willing to rent HP directly to us. If you know of any, or would like to rent some to us yourself, please let us know. We are willing to pay a competitive but reasonable rate.

As far as the daily post. Because we have a very small team of volunteers, it seemed wise to focus our energies on actually finding posts rather than spending time on new content ourselves. Even when value was much higher, not a single volunteer ever asked for any payment. We understand the concern about "spam". Heck we see it every day. However, we are hoping that people continue to see our one short daily post as a net positive for the platform. We don't churn out multiple low quality posts. We don't vote on our own comments. We simply use one relatively short daily post as a seed to help many others.

Actually, maybe that last sentence was the short version ;)

Again, thank you for willingness to have a conversation about this.

We don't churn out multiple low quality posts. We don't vote on our own comments. We simply use one relatively short daily post as a seed to help many others.

Copy/paste is low quality bs. You've been doing that for weeks.

This type of posts will continue to be downvoted until you go out there and actually talk to people (on chain, off chain, Discord, etc.) to support your cause. Learn to live with @dlease if you can't negotiate private deals.

Upvoting your repetitive nonsense doesn't advance your cause. That crap is worse than the so-called "curation digest" other projects put out. Yours is nothing more than vote farming in disguise. If you had the decency, or passion, for your project, you'd have enough following to come up with a proposal.

I have never seen a serious initiative where their only method of gaining traction is getting paid $10 per post for using the same copy/paste dribble.

Curation digests are terrible. Like we get it. You vote things. Cool story bro.

Not that I never voted one in my life but now that I think about it they are really counterintuitive.

Get your damn curation digests our of the way so I can consume some good content ffs. Lol

Curation digests at least show the work performed by the curators. Even though I think that's less than ideal.

Their posts here are nothing but a broken record repeating itself and getting those autovotes.

Yeah but it depends on the nature of the digest. One could technically have a bot shitting out metadata on its autovoter and that wouldn't be worth much if anything.

I get some of the services that take the time to maybe summarize a post they had curated. I would see that in a completely diff category than simply bot generated digests.

Yeah, if only we live in an ideal world.

You make an excellent point and we appreciate you saying it. We honestly never thought we were in anyone's way. We just focused on the fact we were boosting others up. But you are 100% right. We are shutting this down. If we can't do a content rich post, we won't do any.

We get what you are saying. When looking only at the snapshot of the past couple of months, we can see 100% where you are coming from. We have always been looking at this from the point of view of the entire 42 moon life of this project. During that time, we have had varying degrees of success but we feel very strongly it has been a net positive. Right now is definitely the low point. But it is quite reasonable for someone not to look that far back.

When we wrote "We don't churn out multiple low quality posts. ", we meant that we don't just sit down for 5 minutes and churn out some garbage. We could easily do that but from our point of view it seemed that a simple daily post was the lesser of two evils (obviously the best choice would be a high quality daily post... but we are really burnt out right now). We respect that you see it the other way around.

You are making some huge leaps that we are not "decent" or "passionate"people. We are decent, passionate... and exhausted.

Would you be willing to remove us from the blacklist if we stopped daily posts until we can get a volunteer to write original posts? If we can't find one, we won't post.

I don't have the power over the blacklists.

I can forward your message to @guiltyparties.

Thank you for cooperating.
