I believe in survival of the fittest, and that means economically too, so that's where my ethics usually stray from the conservative pack, I don't have a God or a oath like them.
I do have rites though, and the litanies of Satan so they are called by theological slaves who cant fathom the virtues of independence and the carnal beast inside of every man that governs the fight vs flight response.
You need to pick your battles to be free in this world, some forces are exhausting their resources so quickly, they wont have time to look at you twice, so just make sure the illusion of control is fulfilled as a predisposition to tyrants.
I'd call that human nature.

Those same people often convince themselves they are "unbiased" and "reasonable" (usually with religion).
