So there's this little museum type bit not far from the house that we drive by pretty much every day. It's called the 'Old Vehicle City, USA - Mini Collection'. One of the appeals, is there is an old tow truck almost identical to 'Mater in the Cars movies. They even put some eyes in the windshield to give a friendly smile.
There is an interesting story behind how this came to be, actually. I remember driving by it for years, and seeing them add a couple different vehicles that they either picked up or had someone drop off. They were arranged in an ornate way about the yard.
It really was artistic.
But, not everyone felt it was art or nostalgic. Some of the townspeople began to complain about it being an eyesore and shouldn't be allowed inside city limits. (You know the type, the kind that thinks they own everything - especially other people's shit.) So those people made a petition to have it removed at the cost of the property owner.
In hearing this, I helped to get them their own petition going, one that said they could keep it, if they turned it into a history museum of sorts. This one passed much quicker than the other one to have it torn down. They even got state funding to add more relics of the past!

Nice! It's nice to see the history preserved. It pisses me off how some "neighbors" constantly complain about someone else's property. If they cared so much they should have moved into someplace with a demonic home owners association...

I'm not sure exactly where Old Vehicle City is located, but when I searched for that name in RA, it came back with this: https://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/33278, which might also interest you & your fam. I also visited a very similar place when in Sweden, called Kyrkö Mosse; the main difference being all the cars were European models. Maybe someday I'll dig out those photos & share.
There are some fantastic offbeat sights in this country that I never would have found without that site. I think one is not too far from you - the Museum of Appalachia.
Car graveyards are awesome though, and I'm super glad you were able to fight and save this one! I will put it on my list of places to visit the next time I swing through.

There is a snack bar there! Didn't get pix of it though. GO through a little ivy clad entry way down the hill and there is a picnic area and concession.
