( EN / DE ) The question of the contest was:
What is your number one passion, the thing you do that
makes you feel the most happy, peaceful, or satisfied?
When I read this it was immediately clear to me: Music!
Music in all its forms means so much to me, I can't imagine life without it.
Soothing, stimulating, entertaining, music can be all that.
Music can leave me in awe of its beauty and perfect harmony.
Music can keep me awake when I'm driving in the car for a long time.
Music can make me sad and thoughtful.
Music can make me content and happy.
Music can carry me on its wings into other worlds.
Whenever I have moved, and unfortunately I have moved many times, 7 times in the last 22 years, this "ensemble" as you see it here was always the FIRST thing I rebuilt. Of course it didnt look exactly the same every time, because rooms always were different, but just the same principle. Then I had the (music-) power to put everything else in order.
While in the past it was nothing special to listen to vinyl records, it has now become a ritual. Putting on a good record now means for me to just take my time, listen and really enjoy it. Pure sound enjoyment.
Moves with many records and books are really tedious and at some point you do not want to drag them all again and again with you. So I sold some of them a long time ago and only kept the ones that I actually listen to from time to time.
CDs aren't as heavy and are easier to transport, but I also sold a few before the last move. But do not worry ;-) there is still enough good music to listen. Some of my "evergreens":
one of my favorite albums for decades :-)
In the "Bluegrass" section there are also some real treasures, where I was allowed to meet the musicians personally in Munich. It's something very special to hear music from people you really have met in your life. I think the topic "Bluegrass" would be worth one or two or more extra posts.
During that time in Munich, MP3s started to become popular and of course, like most people, I rarely bought music after that. Which I think is a shame though, because somehow music has lost its value since then. An MP3 is never valued as much as a vinyl record - which is even more fragile - was.
My first music recordings I had of course on cassette. Haha, those were the days. I spent hours putting the music in a good order, recording it, cutting annoying presenters out of the recording and also drawing little covers.
I don't know where I found the time to do all that. But I think, before the internet and TV series came into our lives, we had more time to be creative.
Just a few days ago I was writing about music with a friend and discovered this video. Live 1985. Opus and Falco. And somewhere in the crowd of fans I was there as a teenager. Unforgettable moments:
;-) round about 4.10 min can you here me singing? ;-)
Something else where music plays an important role in my life is playing by myself. I'm not really good, but to get pleasure from it for myself it's fine.
This piano is about 100 years old. My grandmother had received it as a gift from her parents at the time. And my grandmother played really well. I remember when she was very old, she took her place at the piano and played perfectly. Learned is learned. It's a shame that so many children don't learn to play a musical instrument. That would do them a lot of good, I think.
Playing the guitar or any other instrument is balm for the soul, just like simply listening to music. Unfortunately, I also take far too rarely really time for it and most of the time the small Bose system plays playlists from amazon music.
Now, while writing this post I realized that I have to take more time for good music in the future. Because music was my first love and it will be the last.
This was my story about my greatest passion :-)

Denn ... Music was my first love and it will be the last.
At the end of this posting I wanna ask you, do you have 7 minutes free time? Pick up your earphones, klick play and enjoy the sound of the previous century :-) "private investigations"
I love music!
Like you, I hope that it will be the last.

Check out the last post from @hivebuzz:
You have received 5 LADY(LOH) tokens for entering the Ladies of Hive contest.
Please note that since our LOH token is still so new, that it will be worth more if we HOLD them for a bit before trying to sell them. Some have been trying to sell them immediately after receiving them, but holding them for a bit will help them to increase in value! We are working behind-the-scenes to try to keep the price stable, but the "sell orders" are hampering the stabilization of the price of this new token. Please hold on to your tokens. Thank you! 🙂
Such mal Bluegrass Band und New Orleans. Was du da an Live-Sessions findest ist atemberaubend.
I feel like changing technology has rather destroyed listening to music for me. At one time years ago I had a huge collection of vinyl. Then everything began moving to cassette tape and I copied all my vinyl onto tape and always had favorite tapes to pop in when I was in the car. Then came CDs and my cassettes got packed away in a box and are still there collecting dust. I put all my CDs onto an iPod. And then Apple changed their policies and took away any music that I had not actually purchased from them. I created a music list on Google and loved it and then Google sold out to YouTube and I have never taken the time to figure out how to access my beloved songs there. It rather exhausts me to even think about accessing my favorite music these days!
Oh I didnt know Apple did this? Except an old ipod long ago I never had much to do with Apple.
This Bose Player I have could play music via wlan from a source but I am such a data messie ;-) the CDs are as Mp3 stored but it's chaotic. A good friend has tons of good music organized on a cool Player and with his pad can choose everything. I would love to have this but dont wanna do all this setup stuff ;-) you know what I mean?
I do know! I wish I would have kept my old vinyl. The simplicity of putting on an album seems appealing
They got really expensive meanwhile. But I keep them. Some from the CDs I never put on I sold by momox. Not sure do you have momox selling platform or is this a europe an Company 🤔
I don't think we have momox. I gave mine away to a guy I new who was collecting vinyl back before it was cool. I put all my CDs into a big cloth case and threw away the plastic cases they came in to make them easier to transport in the car. I was driving a lot and that was where I was listening to most of my music.
I had times when I was driving 3 hours each day ;-) music and hear books saved my days at that time. But always took copies ro the car because they all got damaged by time.
Do you know if sofs-su is finaly doing better? It's a long time she stayed away from hive.
She was being admitted to the hospital the last I heard, with heart issues. I hope she is doing well and we hear from her soon.
Yay! 🤗

The ritual of playing music is such a great thought.
This disposability of consumable digital media appears to be the way of the future. Music, tv and film and has gone digital but there are a small but growing amount of hold outs.
I still have a lot media I've kept over the years and I find myself becoming so lazy. All I need to do is move and do a little searching yet the allure of a few clicks mostly wins out. Once you do take the effort I find I'm more engaged especially in music when I tune out and focus solely on that task.
Now the big issue is hoarding the devices that can still play this media.
Great write up and keep making music.
I'm not sure for the cassettes, but vinyl record players are still avaiable and I think they will last a long time. Yes exactly, just too lazy, that's it. Better to click quickly and put up with the poor audio quality of a computer or smartphone than to get up, move and make good sound.
I have to change this bad habit :-) thanks for your comment :-)
Thanks for the invite, @beeber i can see from your writeup just how much music means to you.
I also love music and there's always a song for every moment.
Hi @nuella01 I thought the Lady of hive contests could be something for you to step easy into the posting world :-)
How do you do with Hive? Do you know the platform The Terminal by @thekittygirl @brittandjosie and others, who help preople starting here?
Music is my world just like light where would we be with out music
Hey :-) it's a great thought to compare music with light. That's so true. Both essentials fpr my life :-)
Yea if only I would have a good cassette player. There is a lot of good old forgoten music in this box :-)
