Sorry to hear about the passing of your uncle and it's true what you said (based on personal experience) that losing someone we love in December kind of doubles the grief and pain. I'm glad that your grandmother is tough and able to accept the event without breaking down.
And I think celebrating a friend's birthday especially like that of your friend during an uncle's funeral is not insensitive. It's nice that you were able to share her joy. Thank you for sharing your stories.

Losing a loved one in December is one of the worst things there is 😔 My abuelita has been taking it well, that's an example I want to stay with.
