When you see that your future is unclear..do the next right thing

A sentence that recurred in my mind a lot after I defended my thesis, I thought a lot.. What next? Here is my dream of graduating from a master's degree is about to come true.. what am I going to do next

When I returned to the dormitory, and in the days that followed, I put before my eyes all the present circumstances around me

  • I cannot go back to Gaza because there is no money for the ticket and also for some reasons of my own and my association with this place
  • I cannot look for a job here in Indonesia because one of the conditions of the scholarship is not to work at all
  • My concentration in studying and diligence to obtain a master's degree did not allow me the opportunity to learn the Indonesian language
That is why the next right thing was to try to search for another scholarship to complete the study.. but unfortunately, there was no scholarship available in the university where I was studying to study the PhD.. so I thought about studying the Indonesian language, so I searched for the scholarship available at the university and found that there is a specialization in the bachelor’s degree to study the Indonesian language He learned its foundations and principles.. I liked the idea and decided to join the major. When I applied for the scholarship, I was rejected because I obtained a master’s degree. I could no longer study a bachelor’s degree.. The Expatriate Affairs Office at the university suggested that I study a master’s degree in the English language. I asked them to give me time to think about it.

When I returned to the dormitory, I remembered the difficulties I faced while preparing for my master's thesis and how my academic writing was so weak... that my supervisor was telling me, "Nour, I feel that you are writing your research in Arabic. I know that you are a journalist and you are good at writing in Arabic, but here you are writing the research in English, so you must follow the scientific methods in academic writing and not mix the two languages".

This is what came to my mind and this was the next right thing for me to do, ** Join the MA in English**, I found support from some and the rejection of others around me.. but I am doing the right thing for myself so I applied and was interviewed via the Zoom application and eventually got accepted to study Masters again

And here I am a student again and started yesterday the first day of lectures.. I think it is crazy for some.. But for me every opportunity to learn something new is a special addition to my personality.

Lovely smile! I can see things are getting better for you.

Good luck on your studies. Learning English is definitely a must in this world. I was lucky enough to have learnt it in a natural way, by watching cartoons and listening to a lot of music, while paying attention to the lyrics. When I went to school to learn English, I found it almost natural.
