Return to normal
It started with the traditional Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony last Christmas. That was followed with the traditional Honey Festival in Spring. And then came the traditional Main Street Fair also in Spring. And now the County Fair. 🥰 We are seeing a return to the usual public activities in our town. At long last!!!
County Fair
By definition, a county fair is one that is usually held annually at a set location in a county, like our county fair grounds, especially to exhibit local agricultural products and livestock.
This year our County Fair is missing the livestock portion, but we are more than happy that it is back after missing in the years 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-restrictions.
Competitions
There were all sorts of competitions and fun to watch.
Quilting
Crochet
Sewing
Baking
Preserves
Table Settings
Decor
Produce
There were large and small farming equipment on display also. Do you know how large this was? I tires of this monster truck were taller than me.
There were two buildings full of merchandise and booths of local organizations.
Of course they were in the grounds too.
Rides
A county fair without rides does not feel like a fair. And it was a carnival of all sorts.
And FOOD!
The tacos were made by the volunteers of our Church. It is a fund raising to build our new Church.

What an amazing show of talents. Such events will showcase all those whose hands made all these. I wish to see such events in my country. This will reduce the rate at which youths engage in less productive things It will also bring to light hidden abilities of Nigerians whach will help people see that most imported things can be produced locally. Weldone to folks in your country.
Do you have such activities? It would be a good way to involve the kids! There was a band competition, and lots of kids were involved. Our county, being agricultural, is into local products. All products used in preserves and baking wee local products.

Oh wow! That looks like a great time! I would love to see the quilts. Interesting that they have decor and table settings! I have never seen that before, but it's been so long since I went to a fair! I also like the quilted jacket! Thanks for sharing photos - I enjoyed seeing all of the photos.

I sure there are a couple more classes which I failed to mention. Pre-covid, they would have all sorts of competitions on livestock. Maybe next year.

Super cool! I have cousins who used to raise steer to show at fairs. I used to love to go to quilt shows. I love quilting, but I currently don't have time for it!
Wow, quilting! My friends and I are in awe of the time and effort one outs on quilting. There was a time I learned to quilt... like small pieces. I still have them!

I have made a quilt for all of my kids, grandparents, nieces, and nephews. Currently I don't have time to do any of it thanks to homeschooling, homesteading, and having 6 kids, plus daily stuff that goes along with that! Ha! I love it though. I do it all on a machine. Hand quilting is torture and I've only tried it once on a small piece. It was too much work!!

Hello friend. It's nice to visit you. I am still solving my problem, it is still difficult and I still trust in God that it will be solved, but I took a break to post something to calm my anguish a little, and to read some dear friends.
It is really gratifying that things are getting back to normal after all we have been through, how nice to enjoy everything we used to do, although I still do not go out much because here you have to be cautious, even a little more tranquility is breathed.

The time will go fast @silversaver888 , when I was a kid our church did the same. The archdiocese required 75% in cash before we could break ground. The bell towers did not have bells for several years so they could be paid for in cash!😇

The Yolo County Fair is the largest and oldest free gate fair in California. It sits in a 55-acre area! You can just imagine how big it is.
Perhaps I can show the rest of the quilts in a separate article. There were so many of them. I would have a challenge if I were a judge in such a competition.
Yeah, table setting was my first too, hahaha!

It looks like it was a lovey fair! Ours just finished an unprecedented 9 day run; they usually do only 5. We did not go as they raised the entrance fee well beyond what we think is fair and from what I heard, I'm kind of glad we didn't go. They raised the food prices as the vendors are required to turn 1/3 of their proceeds over to the fair admin and the over all feel of the fair, as told to us, was very much smaller with less entertainment than in previous years. They used to have free seating for all concerts and you could watch the horse events for free. Now, you have to pay additional monies to get into those. Just for the 2 of us to go, you're looking at well over $200 if we were to go to just one concert or event! They were trying to make up for lost time due to Covid, and I get that, but with the cost of everything, I wasn't willing to pay it.

Yes, there were three live bands. But didn't get any photos because I ran out of batteries. People were dancing, I was dancing, hehehe. We had a grand time!

I'm from the Philippines and I could say that the restrictions here are getting controlled but there are still some parts of pre-pandemic that I really miss... including attending some fairs and carnivals.
