Lately, a trend has taken over Brazil, and I believe other parts of the world as well. People have been asking GPT to create images of them in Studio Ghibli style. What do you think about this? Do you think that AI will devalue artists' work over time? #art #ai #polemic

Depends on what value you are talking about. Economic value? Definitely.

Artistic value? No. Artistic value is subjective. It is based on the creator and the beholder. Yes, someone can value the AI artwork more but that isn't because they devalued Studio Ghibli's work.

And some people would value Studio Ghibli's artwork more because it has been made by Studio Ghibli. But that doesn't detract any value from the previous person who valued AI artwork more.

Art is subjective and it is given value by who beholds and cherishes it.

I agree that art is subjective, but in my view, what AI generates is not art. Art is something made by human beings for human beings.

By virtue of being subjective, you can't decide what is art or not. You can say for me this isn't art. And there are plenty of "art" made by humans that I wouldn't consider so, but someone does hence they are art.

It's true, I think it's a matter of belief and personal choices. what is art for me may not be for you and vice versa.

That is why it is important to study aesthetics, as it is one of the only ways to truly understand what art actually is.

I think that aesthetics are completely unnecessary, since one of the principles of art is to provoke sensations and feelings. If no one felt anything, the concept of art would never exist.

Asking AI to generate an image is OK, but asking it to do a particular style isn't. I do fan art of Ghibli and other anime. Even if they're fan art, I also put in effort in creating them. So, I feel sympathetic to Hayao Miyazaki when he shared his thoughts on it.

Yes, I completely agree with you. I think asking an AI to imitate a specific artist's style crosses the line and devalues the skill that someone spent years developing.

I believe that art and AI should be categorized separately. :)

Miyazaki did not share thoughts about it that is disinformation.

Ohh is it? I wonder what he thinks about it then... XD

Actually, this is true information:

No, the comments are about what he is looking at not AI.

Miyazaki hadn't shared any clear thoughts about AI.

What he meant is very clear, but one needs to know how to read between the lines.

No, it isn't clear. Such that people who hate AI can pull his words to fit their agenda.

I disagree because I don't hate AI, I use them daily for many things, and even so, I believe that what he said in the past fits perfectly with what is happening now. And just like me, there are many other people who don't hate AI, and think the same way.

My social media is filled with these pictures. It's disheartening to see such images being generated every second while the real thing takes years of hardwork. I really hope AI can be kept seperated from art atleast.

There is a scene made by the studio that is only four seconds long and took over a year to be drawn. I mean, it's an incredible piece of work! True artists dedicated themselves to creating it. I also believe that art should be completely separate from AI-generated images.

A melhor resposta,🤣

Politicamente (in)correto. 🤣
