A few years ago, me, my wife and the kids left home to celebrate Christmas with my dad, who was already very sick the time. It was a three hour drive, and after about one hour, we got a call from my stepmom, to let us know that my dadβs condition got worse, and he had to got to the hospital. No visitors allowed, due to the risks for him. The kids got quite hungry already in the meantime, so we divided to grab a bite before turning around and heading back home. So we went to the nearest thing that was op (on Christmas Eve!), which happened to be a KFC. Walking in there, we were the only customers, and the people working there were utterly surprised to see any customers at all. We saw how puzzled they were, and explained briefly what happened.
They felt sorry for us, and decided to make it special! They treated us (and especially the kids) like royalties! And we had a great Christmas Eve after all, one that will be remembered for many more years!!
My dad died a few months later, but he did have a good laugh at our evening!
