Here's my entry for the Ecency Day 15 contest:
My favorite holiday memory from childhood is of Christmas Eve at my grandparents' house. I must have been around 8 or 9 years old.
Every year, my siblings and I would spend Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa's. We'd help decorate the tree, make holiday cookies, and listen to Grandma read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' by the fireplace.
But the highlight of the evening was always the midnight trip to the living room to see if Santa had arrived. Grandma would make hot chocolate, and we'd sit by the tree, sipping our drinks and admiring the presents.
One year, I remember being so excited that I couldn't sleep. I kept sneaking downstairs to see if Santa had come. Finally, around midnight, I crept downstairs and saw that the room was filled with presents! I couldn't believe it!
I ran upstairs and woke up my siblings, and we all rushed downstairs together. It was pure magic. We spent the rest of the night opening presents, playing games, and enjoying each other's company.
That's a holiday memory that I'll always treasure. Even though I'm grown now, I still feel that same sense of wonder and excitement during the holiday season.
