RE: Screams of Terror: My new alarm clock?!

in Ecency3 years ago

Oh my! As I began reading this, I was reminded of a time when my daughter came rushing into our bedroom in the dead of night. She was panicked, and told us that someone was knocking on her bedroom window.

Dreary with sleep, I somehow climbed out from my side of the bed. My hubby on the other hand turned over grumbling incoherently. I did my best to calm my daughter, stating it must be a breeze or something moving her blinds.

She was adamant though, so naturally, still sleepy-eyed I went to investigate. Completely believing that I would find a quick explanation and we could all go back to bed.

However, I was not expecting to find a young girl standing on the low flat roof just outside my daughter's window. She was clearly terrified, and wearing pyjamas. This brought me up with a start, and now totally awake, I opened my daughter's bedroom window and allowed the girl to enter.

It turns out she was our neighbour's granddaughter. She was sleeping in the room adjacent to our daughter's next door. Because of the hot weather, she'd kept the window wide open, and in the middle of the night was woken by something inside the room. It turns out it was a fox!

In her terror, she'd fled her room through the window and climbed over the intervening wall between the two roofs.

As a Londoner, I first heard the howling of foxes as a child. They were terrifying. City-dwelling foxes are everywhere and pretty common.

It doesn't surprise they are visiting you at the moment. Their symbolism conveys cleverness, playfulness and mischievousness among others.

The Sooper Snails (me and @mcyusuf) are on the curation trail as part of the DreemPort / Ecency challenge. You have been slimed! This 2nd week we have been joined by The Writers 'nd a Half (@samsmith & @penderis) because they asked ever so nicely. Hehehehe!

oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!!! I THINK YOU JUST BEAT ME WITH SCARIEST WAY TO WAKE UP!! HAHAHAHAHA

so my kids try to wake me very very gently - because I can always sense when someone is there in the dead of sleep! and i wake to TERROR because someone is literally just standing there.

so they thought that by waking me quieter.. it would help. turns out NOPE. i would just much rather let my brain hear them coming sooner - so I coudl be aware - rather than open my eyes to see someone standing in front of me, silhouetted in the dark hahahahahha

but yes - waking up to those things... stuff of nightmares! Poor little girl had to not only get woken up in the middle of the night but travel to someone else's house! and then your daughter! oh gosh! LOL

cracking up at that! hahahahahaha

oh - and here - i just shared this in another comment. this one sounds like an animal to me - but the ones i heard sounded just like women screaming OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

UGHHHHHHH terror!!

There are a variety of different sounds, for sure. Baby wailing, Women screaming, and then a strange barking sound. And when you find out it's a fox, it still unnerves you.

exactly....it's like.. WHY do they do that??? WHERE did they learn that hahaha

by the way...had plans to come see you and then my son called and said "sorry mom I forgot...I have a voice lesson...can you come with??"

so .. tomorrow maybe??? hehhee

The door is always open 💛
