it is a historical site and was automated in the '40s, but still operates as a navigational aide.
During the logging boom, timber from northern Wisconsin was shipped out of the port there and transported by lake to Milwaukee where building materials were in high demand.
I love the history of these places and learning about the lighthouse keepers who lit the lights every night and kept the lenses polished and preformed daring rescues when thing went bad.

I think a lighthouse keeper would have been such an awesome job!
I agree! Have you watched 'Alone' on Netflix or on the History Channel? I really like it!
"Alone" sounds familiar but I haven't watched it, what is it?
Oh, I finally got on Amazon Prime video, what do you like watching on that, any particular series?
Alone is about people attempting to survive in the wilderness on their own. It shows how they choose to build their shelters and their strategies for getting enough food off the land. I have found it quite fascinating and I've learned a lot. Good to hear you have Amazon. I'll keep you in mind if I think of something that I think you will like.
Howdy tonight Melinda! "Alone" sounds very interesting for sure. I haven't seen it listed yet so I'll have to look it up.
The History Channel is streaming the current season. Netflix has last season. I liked it enough that I bought the earlier seasons on Amazon and have even watched some a second time.
Holy smokes, I gotta check those out! I heard that "Naked and Afraid" were good but the Missus didn't like the idea of that show for some reason. lol.
