Lighting up the town for a wedding is a privilege. It is costly but it is too beautiful. Weddings are not common occasions and observing the day with bright colors and beautiful decorations only make it one of the best memories. I am not the type to talk about wedding bliss but recently, this blurred memory of my elder brother's wedding kept coming back. So, I decided to write this post, holding that memory.
It was a bright cloudy morning. Our house was intensely busy and my brother had his head all fired up. Being the "bor pokkho" or "people from groom's side" has never been easy. We have more responsibility to fulfill. But, I feel that it shouldn't be like this. The groom is supposed to be the one fulfilling his duty, not his entire family. Anyways, the groom was my brother, so I should be a little caring.
However, Being the third eldest, I had the responsibility to bring the bride safely while crossing the river. My younger brother tagged along and we together got the bride to the wedding venue. When we were crossing the river, the sight was beautiful. The lotus bloomed on both sides of the boat.
The view from the other side was more splendid. It felt like the river is too cheering with us and celebrating this occasion. It did feel a little like the movies. We could not afford a high-tech photographer but we did our best in making it one of our best memories.
We have decorated the surrounding area, from our house to the venue. It was quite close and as the area is all ours, it was easier to decorate them without meeting with a hassle. The reflections look beautiful, don't they? At that time, I was not much fond of taking pictures but now I understand the beauty of photography and capturing moments. How beautiful would the picture come out if I would have stood in the middle of the decorations? Pretty I bet.
The entrance pathway was a much easier task. It was not totally exciting being part of the process but it was fun. Weddings are common occasions if you know a lot of people but also, it is an occasion where nothing ever totally remains the same. A few changes occur here and there and that is part of a wedding memory.
I must admit that the river totally made the venue look mesmerizing. It was hard to coordinate with the men under the control of decorations and lighting. As you can see the decorations were explicit and many details were put on them, therefore, it was a tough task coordinating with them.
Memories of weddings are not my favorites and hold loads of work. Despite, at the end of the day, it is fun and also tiring, but you will get a good sleep. So it is a win-win situation. The groom and bride get some hands, and we get some delicious food with a good night's sleep.
How beautiful this wedding was! That last picture of the lights reflected off the river?? my goodness! It's like fireworks! hehehehe
I really enjoyed seeing the boat carrying you and your brother and the bride to the happy event! hehehehe What an honor for you to escort her!
