Caught in the Block-Web Part 1
My interest and profound love for operating computer systems led me, first to studying computer science at the university, hoping I'd garner enough knowledge to become relevant in the world of computer and technology, however I hardly learnt anything solid enough to give me a stance at a corporate tech ecosystem let alone an edge over my peers after school.
But I took a special interest in one of the many confusing courses I had to learn to pass, HTML.
Either I missed too many classes or the lecturer just wasn't competent enough, HTML didn't come off to me looking as nonsensical as Qbasic or the more hated PASCAL.
I liked that I could see the result of what I was doing, I only needed to know what I wanted to do, it was like drawing to me, I liked drawing, and I'm terrific at it, in my head, but I found myself going back to it after classes, to try things on my own, I built my first website in my 3rd year, I helped my cousin build a website for her events center, I spent about 3 nights, because we only had light at night at the area where I lived at the time by running a generator.
It was quite a simplistic website with 5 pages, home, about, gallery, location(yup, the one with map), contact us(I think the location link directed back to the contact us link and vice versa, but at least they had different contents in them. The general background was baby pink, that sealed the deal when I loaded the website on my computer and showed my cousin.
The second real project I worked on was in 2016, I was the I.T operator at a job then, but my work involved being a secretary, customer service attendant, systems repair, I.T support, consultant, I.T Admin and overall I.T officer which I could have just been called in the first place. So one time, my boss wanted to organize a big annual event that hosted several international professionals.
Apparently while surfing the net, he found a website of an event and wanted me to replicate the site but with his companies ideals and branding, it was huge, it contained a bunch of CSS and Javascript, non of which I knew at the time, after spending over 3 days with nothing to show, I eventually procured a solution, instead of having me build from scratch, buy a theme, install it on WordPress and customize it to taste 😩.
The site was responsive and had a lot of css I had to edit and edit and remove. I think I was done in a week, I found a plugin that made the website more productive for the company that simply alerted you the owner of the website when someone visited it, giving you their location and device information, then it helps you initiate a conversation with the visitor which can eventually help you turn the visitor to a customer.
It was Wordpress, but it was a tool that made me seem like the computer guru among people who didn't know jack about programming, anyway, I dumped learning HTML, it wasn't exciting anymore, if you see what Wordpress is capable of, you'd be wowed, there are even other Content management systems that you can build a minimalistic site with in couple of hours. Although HTML guy's will tell you Wordpress is shite.
So it was late 2016 and I began this goose chase of learning Javascript, I kept getting lost and stuck and expending resources, I couldn't learn a thing, I have a unique learning pattern, and unfortunately, non fit, I quit till later and then I found Steemit, found Blockchain in the second year, I've basically had nothing to do with elaborate coding till I had this happen to me. I explained in details how I began my self learning in a supposed Lucid dream and it has began manifesting.
I paid for a REACT course on Udemmy and started my first series of lesson yesterday. REACT is one of Java's frameworks, I haven't gone so far, but its the programming that takes care of the front end of any web enabled site, its the most popular Java framework and I'm being taught with code pen, I find it interesting,
I'm presently learning about components of a webpage and how they are segmented, then the role each programming language plays in building something. I'm at the stage where I have to combine elements of HTML,CSS and Javascript to form a whole, its been interesting so far, pretty much the way it was in the dream, I'm in no rush though.
Fast forward to 3years later from now, hopefully am alive and well, I should be better than I presently am at coding Javascript, I see a problem I could provide some solution to, I tried to buy Bitcoins few days ago and it was hectic, the best offer I could get were applications where I could deposit for free but be charged 2% on every crypto I purchased.
An exchange might not come out of me directly but I intend to make an attempt to simplify this process to an extent that is better than what is being presently offered and better still, I will be focusing on building on Hive which makes it even better with Hive being a Javascript-able platform.
Once again, I have to emphasize that I'm taking this learning process easy and slowly and I'm not rushing it.
So I can wind up this post with saying my first 3 years on the blockchain seemed to be more focused on what Hive could do for me, I can perceive a change in tides and see myself shifting focus to what I can do for Hive in the next couple of years. I believe this is merely just a glimpse of what my future will look like, it will have not just writing but also Hive blockchain programming to it. 😁
I appreciate where I'm presently at though, hopefully and actively building something massive at @hodlcommunity and gradually influencing the socio-economic growth of both Hive and the few people who read my posts while also improving myself.

Hehe 😉. Would you recommend some mooc/videos for learning how to make a website? I have started python for now.
There is a crypto platform called bitdegree and you can buy classes as on Udemy / open classroom...
I hear python is cool too and pretty widely applicable, I once started to learn Python, but I think I got lost at a point, because I had to have some prior knowledge of some other programming language. Or so it seemed.
How has the learning curve been for you? If you don't mind, can you share why youre learning Python and what you hope to achieve with it?
Hmmmnn I can't exactly point to one as I learnt from many sources over time, including my lecturer in the University, maybe @tykee can help with that.
I'd check out bitdegree, is that where youre learning Python from?

I focus on JavaScript and I have not really have the chance to pick anything in python. Also, coding is a continuous learning, and their are many things to learn. You really need time and patience if you want to learn well. So, sit back and focus on learning. When you get stuck, check https://stackoverflow.com/ and use #gitplait too.

Well I am still in the "process" of learning.
So I basically cannot do much with Python yet. But I used Udemy and now looking at bitdegree as it is a bit less expensive and I can help a newly built blockchain/project to thrive 😃

Good luck with your React course. I am not sure if I miss something in the post, but the progressive way to learn coding is to start from the building block, HTML, if you want to be a front-end of full stack developer. Then from HTML to CSS, then you could pick up Bootstrap, then Vanila Javascript, which is the pure JS(NOT FRAMEWORK). From here you would know if you would pick REACT, ANGULAR, VUE or other, but React and Vue are quite similar and React is a good choice.
Just take your time in learning and you will find more fun in coding. Goodluck.
I started with HTML in Uni, its the one I'm actually quite cool with, not cool cool but just ok. My CSS is below average though, and a total noob at bootstrap.
Duuuude thanks for the info, the guy taking the paid course really made it seem like an all in one thingy, whereas, he was only focused on REACT,...anyone without a good knowledge of HTML will be totally lost.
Damn the guy made it seem like knowing React was knowing JavaScript and didn't make mention of Vanilla, plus I kinda like what he said React could do.
