I'm about 15km from the CBD, so pretty close.

There's Coles stores all over the place with no check-out operators and I refuse to do it myself. IKEA is the same, I was there on the weekend working for IKEA for no pay checking-out my own purchases. But AI and technology is good for jobs right? Lol...when no one has jobs and the crime rate rises maybe someone will take notice.

wow thats crazy. I would expect that in sydney CBD but not outside. Haven´t been to Brisbane yet but in Cairns there were still operators. On the way up there were even supermarkets without self check out. Not long and there will be absolutely no staff in there except security...sad :(

Even more crazy is that I´ve found shops that did not accept money anymore, only card...but smaller shops, can´t remember

Yeah, I lived in Cairns for a while, my brother still does...I like it there, small town feel. They do things the old school way.

You're right, there'll be no staff in supermarkets and other shops soon, like Bunnings for instance. I hate it, not because I need a job, but because others do. Where do young kids go to get some experience in the workforce when all those jobs are automated? How long is it until many more jobs are automated? Progress and human laziness has a lot to answer for.

And shops that don't accept cash? I know right? I walk out.

Only a month or so ago, I walked into a little lunch place and asked them to make me a salad and roast chicken bread roll and I added a few things onto it. They made it, and my coffee, and when I went to pay they said, we don't take cash.

I said, oh really? Ok. I turned around and walked out leaving them with the lunch roll. I hope one of them ate it, but with the combination of stuff I had on it that's unlikely. Since when does a business not take the legal tender of the country?

Crazy Times ahead. My guess is that at one point it will accelerate so quickly that we can´t even follow anymore and one day you will find yourself shopping at midnight and walking out without even paying directly...

I have to admit that I´m paying card more often than I should/have to. Will change that again since cash is still king right?!

I agree, life is changing so rapidly and I think it'll a long way off the tracks so quickly that it won't be able to be stopped and I think it'll be unsustainable. A world where no one is working isn't going to work so well I think.

I use cash where I can however it's getting harder to use it to be honest. Did you hear that bank tellers are asking/quizzing people on what they're doing with the money they withdraw? I can't wait to get asked, the response I give won't be anywhere near the truth, and might make the bank teller blush. #shockvalue

haha never heard that, learning a lot of new things today :) Hope they ask me as well

I have some answers planned out already, it's going to be epic!
