You've probably never heard of CI and I'm not sure if AI will give you the right answer if you ask it so I'll use a bit human intelligence and tell you that CI is short for Continual Improvement which is something that every human on the planet should be seeking...but is not. (Not everyone anyway.)
I've had a CI ethos for more years than I can count and looking back at little me when I was a kid I think I always had the concept in mind as I can recall moments of actively working towards it; I'm not saying I'm awesome, just that I had some good examples around me to learn from, parents and all, and then later had strong motivation to seek it as I'd been booted out of home at seventeen-and-a-half and found myself in a harsh environment - the greater world around me and other places - and being the dude who didn't improve wouldn't have worked for me; I'd probably not be here today if I didn't strive to be better each day.
It's ok if you don't like CI, some people don't want to develop, grow and learn and the world needs those people (ok, not really). If you don't want to progress as a human then what the fuck do you want? Anyway, don't answer that.
Here's a few little tips on what a person can do to CI themselves on a massive scale and these things don't even take that much effort so lazy bastards can do it to - although they probably won't.
Read books
Yeah yeah, people don't like doing this because it feels like an effort and wanking seems more fun but having the best advice and learning from the experiences of everyone and everything that's happened in history is a great way to CI the fuck out of yourself.
Podcast like crazy
I'm more of a reader but I use podcasts when I'm driving, in planes or helicopters, at the airport or anywhere waiting for shit to happen...Fuck social media off and podcast decent podcasts not bullshit. Filling in those little gaps in your day and week will pay huge rewards later on in life.
Ask for and accept feedback
You're not always right and you don't know everything, yes you! Also, you don't need compliments, you need constructive critique, from the right people of course, and then focus on those areas of improvement. Feedback isn't an attack, it's a gift you should embrace.
Get your ass onto a course or two
Find the right one and get the fuck on it...learning from professionals and people who really know rather than scrolling on Fakebook will 2X your learning process. That means "double it" or even more.
Get goal oriented
Know your goal(s), make it/them achievable and relevant, and then create a habit of doing one fucken thing a day that moves you closer to it. One thing y'all, that's not so hard right? Just do the right thing and you'll move towards that goal more and more...building momentum along the way.
Back track
I think this is important. It's about going back to things you were passionate about, hobbies for instance, as it helps to break out of the drive towards CI which can be intense. It's a break, a rest for body and mind, and a rediscovery of something you used to do that made you feel joy. Then...get the fuck back on track! The joy you felt will carry you onward and help you stay the course.
Slut around
Ok, not really...just spread yourself around with diverse motivated and positive people. Soar with the eagles, don't stay on the ground with the fucken turkeys. Get social with some good people; it's said a person is the average of the six or seven people they spend the most amount of time with - make them fucken Titans and you'll be sitting pretty on a high average.
Get intimate with change
Everything changes, always; denying that and seeking to stay in place will see you fall behind, far, far behind...way, way back. Embrace change instead, seek it, and your path forward will be smoother and faster. Conquer the fear of failing and of what you don't know, get uncomfortable, that's when the magic happens.
You don't have to CI if you don't want to but you should remember that those who CI will progress and you will not...you'll be the dumb fuck with NFI - no fucken idea - and no one wants to be that person right? Oh, and stop your reliance on AI, those who want to CI will avoid AI or they'll have NFI. And while you're stopping your reliance on AI stop whining like a little bitch as well, take responsibility for yourself.
These are just a few little tips I've used to find continual improvement but they alone will not ensure you CI. It takes effort, ownership, discipline and determination among other things but aren't you worth it, isn't your future worth it and aren't those who rely on you worth it?
What do you reckon? You think you can slut around or get intimate with change? Can you get goal focused? Could you read a book or do a course or listen to a podcast? I know you can. Then back track a bit, find a little gap to enjoy and then back on it y'all!
Feel free to comment if you want. No AI bullshit though.

In Estonia we have a saying: "A person learns all his life, but still dies a fool"
I hope the meaning doesn't get lost in translations, but I look at it the same way as when people say that you can't bring money/wealth to the grave with yourself, only instead of wealth, it's knowledge.
It doesn't mean that I'm not for the Continual improvement. I absolutely look for ways in my life to constantly keep improving myself.
Because my motivation is not the progress, but rather the result, I find myself burned out from doing "what's good for me" all the time. It has made me realize that I should not push myself over the limit and has taught me to take breaks where needed and relax my way towards CI.
Yep, I get it and the meaning translates well.
I think, if a person feels they know it all then they know nothing at all. I mean, that we are always learning and no one ever knows it all. So, continual improvement is something that should happen throughout a person's life.
I believe in CI because I have seen what can be achieved. I'm not going to say that I always meet my goals, but I like looking back and seeing that I have made progress.
In my case, I think I struggle a bit with setting goals, and that’s something I need to work on. For the rest, I agree a lot; lately, podcasts have become my travel companions, providing a lot of value when they are genuine podcasts. But it's a shame that few people understand the true value of CI, or that many give up or are just okay with merely existing. I suppose that’s what society leads us to these days
If you said that you always meet your goals id not believe you. No one does...and that's how we learn how to meet them more often down the track.
Get onto the Jocko Podcast (Jocko Willink) you can thank me later.
Also...get better at setting goals. Just saying.
Since yesterday, I started listening to it, and if I say thank you, it's an understatement. There's a lot of value in the podcast. I loved it!
Also working hard to be better at setting goal , just matter of time and hard work
Great, I'm glad you enjoy it. There's loads of episodes and in each one you'll find something of value even if the actual subject is not something you'd normally like.

One of the saddest facts librarians quickly learn is how few adults continue to read. And not to denigrate fiction, but even fewer of those adults seek serious philosophical, scientific, and historical sources to improve their understanding of the wider world or their own lives.
I am a massive fan of podcasts, both as an engaging way to learn history and a way to learn (and then challenge) ideas about the modern world. Both social media and traditional broadcast media have a very narrow focus and a lot of stated or unstated biases. You will find little in the way of genuine thought there, no matter how informed they make you feel.
I agree with you and I'm not even a librarian. Most of the people I interact with do not continually read (or seek improvement) although if they're asked they represent themselves as knowing a lot, being up to date, savvy or whatever - easy things to say one is, more difficult to be them.
Podcasts are a great way to seek continuous improvement however I also see many people listening *while scrolling Tik Tok or Facebook and such things and I can only assume they are not absorbing the information effectively or fully which defeats the purpose. Also, the podcast has to be the right podcast, but I guess that's up to the individual.
Some, clearly like yourself, are seekers of knowledge (valuable knowledge) rather than simple information which the masses are force fed by media, social media, government and corporate propaganda and in other such ways.
Thanks for your genuine, measured and thought-out comment.
CI all the way for me.
I would like to think that most people are the same, but unfortunately, I will not be holding my breath on this one.
I love to read, most of my books are reference books now.
Upskilling is also something I am passionate about as well as doing the things I love, the things that keep me sane to be honest and that help me become a better person.
I'm also lucky that I live in a place where lots of people like to come and explore, so I get to meet new people quite easily, but I also have a wonderful circle of friends around me and it's such a super creative place as well.
Change, well I'm all for embracing change, looking forward to things changing for me and my girls in the near future, we can' expect to grow if we don't surrender to change. xx
I know you're into CI not AI, or NFI for that matter. You're a seeker of knowledge, wisdom and other such things and you listen (to yourself and the planet) It's pretty easy to see that in your writing and comments.
I appreciate your comment, your thoughts and time it took to chare...it's sharing like this, opening up and voicing thoughts and experiences, that helps people pick up gems or nuggets of gold along the way...the more we can encourage it the better society will become.
Cheers @galenkp, wishing you a wonderful week xx
I really need to start listening to some more podcasts. I used to listen to some music and tech ones and I kind of got out of the habit. I feel like there is a lot of good stuff out there that I am missing out on. I also like the idea of getting goal oriented. I feel like there are things I could learn if I could just set an end goal for them. Like programming. I've done it here and there, but never too much. I'd like to do it more, but I need to find a project to work on so I can meet some goals.
Yep you do. I say that because we all do and knowing it is the first step to doing it.
Also, I think it's smart to get out of your comfort zone, listen to things that you don't already know or may not at first be interested in...it's beyond the lines where the magic happens and being out there is how a person expands their paradigm.
That is a good point. I tend to lean towards tech and music, but listening to something else would be a good way to grow. I have listened to some true crime podcasts in the past with my wife. That's more her thing though.
There's many lessons that cross over boundaries...even in things we don't like or are not interested in...lessons and knowledge and wisdom should be sought all over the place and then we can work out how best to use it.
I've thought about checking out the Joe Rogan podcast even though I don't agree with all of his politics. Mostly because he often covers a wide range of topics and I have heard it is quite engaging. I don't know if I can commit to some of the episodes being several hours long though! :)
Jocko Willink is another good one; military focused but also leadership and ownership focused. Many valuable dialogues.
I'll put that on my list!
Your words have touched me today.... many of the points you raise I am seeing in something I am studying, such as surrounding myself with eagles and reading books. Yes I can be surrounded by change ... recently there was a big flood where I was born. Something very serious, more than a metre and a half of water... many people died, incalculable material losses. I lost... but I decide to move forward, it was hard to learn about things, but always improve and move forward. Thank you. I start again.
Improvement of oneself takes on many forms and guises, the most important thing is that the improvement is continual.
So be it!
Great points! Especially the "Slut Around" - I try to have a lot of contact and conversations with those who think very differently than I do. That keeps the mind sharp.
I'd add two more points for general mental health :-D
Taking breaks and get bored. Being bored is an incredible source of reflection and creativity, and hence change. Taking a step back from all the progress and improvement is also important to not lose track of where one really wants to go - a disconnect between one's self and one's goals will not lead to improvement, but burn-out. As does too ferocious advancement. You somewhat mention that in the "Hobbies" part, but as a different activity, while I'm rooting for a more passive approach :-D
Milestones - Goals are definite, and certainly helpful. But when you reach them, there's this point of "What now?" - I had that, and it's not fun. Helped me to re-structure, sure, but that took a while. Defining a goal somewhat far out in the future can help, but only if you have milestones to pass on the way, so you stay motivated.
Good points, both of which I've mentioned many times in previous posts over the last eight years on the blockchain and in many training sessions, meetings and mentorings over the last thirty and more years; so clearly I'm on board.
As for the boredom thing, not my style, I'm never bored as that (to me) seems unproductive in the extreme, and a la kbof productivity is a lack of engagement. Detachment is important though, and connection with oneself, the planet/nature, stillness and silence, rather than the every day grind towards goals, can make one more goal-ready. I don't find those things boring though.
I'm not that long on the block to know that, sorry :-D
About boredom - I don't see it as unproductive, but quite the contrary. In the deepest boredom the mind wanders and finds the most amazing things. I guess it's a definition thing. I see it as a lack of distractions, especially in a world that is overflowing with distractions. Sitting meditation for example is getting bored for me. I just sit and do nothing, and my surroundings become boring, and my mind wanders.
On the other hand, I can see why you don't see that as boring.
Thank you for the post & reply!
Never heard of it before, but it is already my lifestyle. I will continue to improve myself as long as my trueself allows me 😉
You've never heard of continuous improvement?
Engaging post
Yes, a shame you chose to add a very unengaging comment which leads me to believe you haven't even read the post.
Commenting like this will get you nowhere.
It's a pattern of overall behavior, too.
Yep, if I get any more I'll DV the account to a minus reputation score.
Perhaps you should pursue continual improvement of your comments. Actually engage with the content instead of simply asserting that it is engaging. What did you learn? What experience do you have with the topic?

Very good, @galenkp. Human intelligence applied to continuous improvement. Sounds like a winning recipe for making progress and success.
From your list, these two stood out the most, from my experience:
"How can they let me go with this much experience?"
Closer examination tells you they more accurately have about 2 or 3 years experience X 15 or X 10. This is most definitely not the same thing as 30 years experience. They just never worked on getting better and staying current.
