That's a great quote right, well I think so anyway. I remember reading it in a book and, as often happens, I did so at the exact time I needed to and it had a profound and lasting effect. That was about twenty four years ago and to this day I remember it, occasionally quote it to others when appropriate, and try to apply it to myself daily; of course, I fail at that sometimes as my life is complicated and incredibly busy...thinking about the health of the soul doesn't always win out.
I do many things to feed my soul, granted, I don't probably do them as often as I should, and music features on that list - not a day goes by without music and I work hard to match it to my mood and use it to augment emotions and feelings. Music is good for that, I don't think I'll get any arguments there.
I've got my go-to music for certain situations and add to my playlists regularly as I come across new music but one of my most-played playlists is one called, slow.
It's one of those playlists I'm most careful with when I add tracks because it's designed to relax me and also to inspire emotions and thoughts that have the potential to temper those I may be having due to the complexity of my working life.
There's all sorts of tracks in there and they're about all sorts of things and all of them work on the health of my soul to draw some words from the quote above. There's a sample below.
I have my reasons for each and every track in that playlist and they reach inside me for different reasons; some because I relate or have lived similar scenarios, some because they remind me of better times - worse also and how I dealt with those moments - and some just because they relax me, feel emotive or simply sound good. Not all of the tracks are indeed slow but all of them help me slow my thoughts and that allows me to be more open to other ones...and that talks to the health of my soul.
Most of us could probably say the same about particular songs and while we may not agree on the actual song or why it's meaningful to us, I think we all agree that music is one of those things that helps us take a moment and engage with our selves through it. What about you?

It is pretty few the moments in my everyday life that I am not reminded of one song or another. It's also few the times I don't start randomly singing said song out loud. Much to the annoyance of my wife!
Lol, random singing...there's probably some form of treatment for it, but I say just let it happen...annoyed wife or not. 😁
She's gotten used to it for the most part. It's only occasionally that she gives me the "babe, you need to stop".
Too much of a good thing huh?
Nailed It!
So I found this really cool app that unblurs fotos when you click on em...
Songs can move me to every spectrum on the emotional scale. There are songs I have to turn off. Others I will play twice. Shuffle my feet... Etc.
I can not imagine life without music.
Or my "Sammi Jo"
JK about the blur app
A pity you were joking about the blur app...I was thinking of how many of my blurry-ass photos I might be able to save.
Music helps a lot to live. And also to say.
Music is...umm...musical. 😉
I am always amazed by the power of music. It can set the mood, help with thinking and studying, can make us feel different types of emotions, and it can even tie itself to certain memories.
It's a pretty amazing thing really, and yet I know so many people who rarely listen to it, don't seek it out actively. It seems odd to me considering how much a part of my life it is. Each to their own I guess though.
I think it depends on their relationship with music growing up. I know people who have background music when they have family meals, and they are massive audiophiles. I also know people who barely listen to music, and it wasn't a big part of their childhood.
A couple songs I tend to play when I am in a melancholy or contemplative mood. Not necessarily slow, but not the tempo I usually prefer by default. I'm sure I've mentioned at least 2 of these before, so they may not be new to you, but you shared a Metallica song, so I won't feel bad if these less-known songs are repetitive.
Something, Somewhere by Phil Keaggy, Wes King, and Scott Dente
Goodbye, Goodnight by Jars of Clay
Weighty Ghost by Wintersleep
(breaking the unintended word, word title trend)
Hopefully the links aren't blocked in Australia, or you can find the songs by title and artists if they are.
I really like Jars of Clay, something about their music appeals greatly although it's a mood thing, I guess not unlike most music.
Music always reduces the stress...I began the day with devotional music and it helps me to remain calm during the dsy...again at the end some soulful Hindi classical refresh the mood.
It's such a powerful force and something I feel enriches my life bibthink you feel that too.
Yes...🥂🥂 always relaxing
I love the last one! I know it well and I love it!
I also have a list of slow music, of that music that makes me think and reflect or just relax, it's called sleep hahaha and another list called romantic slow music.
I share with you one of my favourite songs that has a very special meaning for me, very much!
I never used to like George Michael but as he aged and changed somewhat blthroihh that passing of time and his experiences I came to like his music more.
I'm a big fan of 80's music, the classics and the slower ones but now I listen to Eric Clapton!
I liked the tone of his voice... but not every song.... I'm a fan of Chayanne... I told you so!
Remember that one by Frankie Goes to Hollywood called Two Tribes? 1984. I was 14, and really liked that one. Having said that, 1984 was when I discovered Van Halen and they held most of my interest.
I was 6 years old! But if I remember, I heard it later.... Van Halen, not bad! hahaha
It was precisely at the age of 14 or 15 when I started to forge my taste for music, those will stay with me forever!
Music can really change the mood. It was perfect for a mood-changer, it can lighten up if you're sad. And a perfect match for a relaxing moment.
I agree, do you have anything specific you listen to when you want to relax?

It was really realaxinggg
music relaxes me but depends on the song,
Yeah, it's definitely somg-dependant; the wrong one and it could have the opposite effect than that which is desired.
Exactly right, I am just happy that there are still artist who composed songs with sense😊😊

Music occupies an important place in my life, I enjoy it a lot when I can be alone, then I don't put on any playlist, I like to enjoy an LP. There is a moment for each recording. Best regards
Fortunately there's different means to furnish one's life with music.
That's galen, a hug
Music is very part of human life. These planets revolve in determined circles, with a particular frequency and these sounds are music. We human beings follow rhythm and patterns in life and that's music. We walk in a cycle, a pattern and that's music.
Sounds like AI wrote this.
No, I wrote this but I think you are guessing this because of impersonal approach which I mostly use to write.
Yeah, it feels like a machine wrote it and doesn't make me want to engage. It's passionless and seems to have no personality.
Thanks for sharing. I found the post resonant!!. Our inner well-being is crucial, and music has a remarkable way of connecting with our emotions and thoughts. It acts as a powerful tool for self-expression and introspection, allowing us to delve into our inner selves and gain a deeper understanding of our emotions and experiences. Across cultures and backgrounds, music has the capacity to evoke a wide spectrum of emotions, making it a universal language that brings people closer to themselves and to each other.
This reads like it was written with AI.

I think it looks bad when you fail to quote sentences which is not yours. My regret here!!
Vividly, i could remember you saying that you purely won't accept the full ideal of AI messing with our world today.
Nevertheless, I didn't gather the right words to express myself here, you see.
Yet, thanks for the correction!!
I knew you would always be here! 😁
Always.
