Sort:  

I use white, dry, grape wine, less often beer. It seems to me that there is too much alcohol in rum, you need to set fire, or wait until it evaporates completely.

I usually use the rum when marinating over at least 24 hours or for grilling over coals, which is quite popular here, so in that case the alcohol percentage doesn't play a big role. The kind of wine used for cooking meats or sauces is a bit expensive here, because of the import costs, unfortunately.

Grapes don't grow in Suriname? You should try to plant it and do some good business)

I've heard it's not as easy to grow grapes in a tropical climate. For personal use it would be fine and not that hard to manage pests and disease, but not as a business.

It does sound like a good idea to try it for personal use, or as a challenge. I'll try to find/order some seeds.

For this business, not seeds are needed, but cuttings.
