Yes, a very sad occasion and many schools and small businesses were also looted and burnt.
The ocean's problems are all over the world Hannes.
Now ships are dumping plastic waste into the ocean and they found thousands of plastic bottles from Asia washed up on our beaches here.

I know, my friend, we are dumping our planet, and I wonder when Mother Nature will really wake us up before it's later than too late, because it's too late for many things already.

Scary stuff is taking place noe Hannes.
I Twittered a video of a flood in Austria yesterday and also saw vids of the floods in Germany and Poland. They recon it's the worst in their history.
So yeah, we will pay for our mismanagement of this planet, as mother nature is finally very angry.

We are south of the mountains and only have got wet feet like in normal rain, but in the north they have had some real bad floodings, and many cities and areas have never been prepared that Mother Nature might be able to change her usual behaviour. Good thing is that a lot politicians woke up and talk about it now, but as always I think when the sun shines and the ground is dry again they will forget.

Ah, so Salzburg is up towards your north. That video on YouTube was frightening.
I don't think that there was much anyone could do to avert the floods as that water was so deep and strong that it would even break any barriers in its way. It even carried cars away.
Politicians are always full of talk my friend and if they were to put actions to their talk this world would be a better place.

Yep, Salzburg is north of the mountains. We don't have often floodings, but if we have one then it's bad. We have dams and other barriers to keep the water where it should flow, but too much is too much and Mother Nature knows what to do.

Lately everything has become abnormal Hannes.
All of our peaks are covered with snow now and they say that our biggest cityb op north, Johannesburg, will be at -7C today. That's more than 2000 kms from us.
We always get the coldfronts first and they say that we have Polar conditions today.
