Here are some critters I've spotted today for the Amazing Nature community.
I was crashing around the forest looking for mushrooms but found none at all. But as I was walking all of a sudden this deer pokes its head up right beside me.
She only seemed half concerned that I was crashing around the weeds right next to her.
She didn't even run away. Sadly there were so many branches and leaves in the way that I couldn't get any clear photos of her without branch obstructions in the way.
Meanwhile a few feet away I barely spotted this camouflage garter snake.
These snakes usually zip away once they see you but this one was too busy soaking up the sun rays to move. I didn't try and catch him because these guys usually poop/pee on you once you catch them lol.
Once I got back onto the walking path I started noticing some noisy sparrows having a spat in the trees.
This female drove away the previous one out of her territory (the telephone pole).
Meanwhile the male was looking at them from a distance at the top of the telephone pole. Who knows what sort of domestic dispute happened between these three lol.
in your country there may still be many deer in the open but in my area it is too difficult for us to find them.
honestly I am very afraid of snakes and you managed to get some very beautiful guesses of these wildlife.
We have lots of deer here in the state next to me there are even more. Sadly they also carry ticks that have lyme's disease in them so you have to be very careful and check for ticks every time you go out into the forest.
We appreciate your work and your post has been manually curated by zoology team (oscurity, nelinoeva) on behalf of Amazing Nature Community. Keep up the good work!
beautiful photos! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Thanks @oscurity and @nelinoeva :-)
Well, even with the branches your deer photos look fantastic as do all of your photos @sketch.and.jam!! Love that you caught a couple of shots of the Garter snake. I see them occasionally here but I don't try to catch them either other than in photos. That one looks like a good size too. The bird in the tree is my favorite of the bird photos. I love how the pine needles is surrounding the bird..very pretty! 💖
I keep trying to find the green grass snakes around here, but those guys are way to camouflage to even see. The deer was so close I could almost reach out and pet it. I didn't even notice it until I was right beside it when a head and neck poked up from the thick trees right beside me. I think I was more startled than the deer.
Lol..it was a very good thing that it was a deer and not a bear then! 😉
No worries the Chicago Bears are weak this year lol.
Lovely images there.
Lol I didn't know that snakes poop and pee when you catch them.
But why would you want to catch them?
Hmm I wonder what the spat could be about, perhaps the guys is lazy and not helping with the nest building..
It's a growing up in Arizona thing where you catch every critter, even snakes just to show off to your friends. Those sparrows are constantly having housing spats, maybe one was trying to steal nesting material.
LOL, I wouldn't get anywhere near ten feet of a snake, so I was curious.
Thanks for explaining that hehe.
Once you know which ones are poisonous or not going near snakes is fine. Though most of the nonpoisonous ones have the poop/pee defense mechanism if caught similar to frogs or toads.
I liked the shots of the deer, so clear and close, even with the branches.
Then later when I got home I found a tick crawling on me, I suspect the poor critters have thousands of them crawling around on them.
