Last week, I shared my progress on the making process of a bridesmaid dress which was almost done but I got stuck getting inspiration for the sleeve styles, you know how a sleeve can make or mar a dress, and for me, the sleeves is everything because it can take a simple looking dress from one to hundred, the reason I'm usually very intentional about my sleeve style, and thankfully I finally got the right inspiration to get the dress completed.

I want to start by thanking those who commented and gave their suggestions in my previous post, you all encouraged and inspired me the reason I love this community, apart from learning from your creative journey, the support, and encouragement are a whole lot I get from this community that I don't take for granted. I love you all.

My sister who is the bridesmaid had already told me she wanted a bit of
drama in her sleeve style but still with a simple and unique statement, you already know me to be the dramatic sleeve queen, and I sure did not disappoint her by making this long sleeves with full flare at its hem.

One unique detail you will notice about this dress and sleeve is how I creatively combined the Chantilly and tulle to give stylish and unique details, each on both sides, and it fits perfectly with the already-made bodice.

It is a very easy to make sleeve, and I will be sharing the process with us, you can make use of any fabric of your choice to achieve this sleeve style

Process

  • The upper part of the sleeve was achieved using a long basic sleeve pattern, which stops just before the wrist,

  • To make the flare part, the ankara fabric I used wasn't up to one meter, so I had to manage the fabric by folding it into 6 folds, check the images, you will understand better,

First in two folds, then the two folds into four, and the four into eight folds, I hope you got that part, using this method, I was to cut both flare sleeves together at once, the round sleeve/wrist divided by 6.28 which is a constant determined the radius.

  • Finally, I lined the flare main fabric using s cotton lining fabric before sewing it around the upper sleeve hem and the armholes of the dress.

😅😊Thank you so much Laura ❤❤

This look so beautiful and cute. I love it

When it comes to dramatic sleeves, I love them but the sad part is that most of them take up so much materials.
