Check the seam with a separate fabric, this allows you to regulate the tension of the threads.
You always have to test the seam with a separate fabric, since this changes depending on the fabric, here you can see that I test it in zingzag.

It is advisable to sew a little closer to the edge of the patch on the outside, in this case you do not have to worry much because the thread will not show much, you can use a thread that shows as little as possible and as I said before if you They are going to wear, for example, a yellow shirt, if they want they can put a yellow thread on this patch, imagination is the limit.
