A birthday outfit for my niece , Diy of a blouse with Keyhole

Hello Hive

It was a beautiful start to the week yesterday, and I was happy and enthusiastic about everything. We first went to the riverbank to do a cleanup for the veggies when I started having some ugly symptoms; we barely worked a few hours before I returned home to check out what was wrong with me.

Before the arrival of my doctor, I remembered how my niece had been hammering it on my head since last week that Sunday was her birthday. The children are already accustomed to the tradition of getting new outfits every birthday, but this year's seem a bit different.

I'm unable to meet up with making new clothes for everyone as things continually get expensive and on the high side, especially with fabrics.

A meter of fabrics now cost $2 around here and I will need at least 2meters to make clothes for anyone.

Prior to yesterday, I had already told her that she wouldn't be getting any outfit this year. She was a bit sad, and I wasn't too happy either, as we are accustomed to keeping yearly memories.

Sunday came and went; I didn't get any new clothes, but come Monday, which was yesterday, I found this fabric I had used and remained, which will be useful to make a blouse for her. Someone gifted her a lovely black jean, and this will go just perfect on the blouse.

Upon reaching home from the farm, I started to cut the blouse.

And then I created a keyhole at the back of the blouse.

Not wanting this to be too plain, I measured out a flare to pleat on the front of the blouse, then tapped the edges round with a matching color bias.

Every seam was sewn smoothly. It was like I was using the strength of my mind to sew this as my body was fast giving way. Sometimes we find ourselves working with some form of mental energy instead of a physical energy provided by our bodies.

I couldn't hold it any longer; she came around to test fit the blouse, but it didn't sit well on her body yet since I wasn't done with it yet.

Here I traced out a pattern in which I will be sewing the flair to the front block.

I cut out a sleeve part here and added some elastic to it.

The doctor came around, and I was placed on IV almost immediately. I couldn't even complete the outfit as I was doing everything I possibly could to finish it up for someone else to assist her with the pictures.

I really did try my best, as the little girl understands too; she was even crying when she saw the doctor fixing cannulas and giving me injections. She understood the sacrifices I was earlier making for her to keep the memory of a new birth, and with all the health issues, she wasn't sad anymore. I needed to take care of myself first, and she can have as many clothes to wear, which I will be sewing for her in the coming years

These goes some of the pictures from last year when she clocked ten with the outfit I made for her.

Our blouse isn't finished yet, but it is already beautiful. What do you think?.

Someone said that I look beautiful whenever I'm sick, could be true whenever I get the face swells like some added fate. I'm on bed rest but keeping busy online so as not to get bored, sometimes a good distraction is always important 😀

Thanks, I appreciate 🙏😊

Hope you are doing fine now, I pray you get well soon ❤️

It's funny how everything is expensive. Sometimes it is even less expensive to buy clothes instead of sewing them. I'm glad I know how to sew, it has saved me a lot of money.

The dress is really beautiful. I'm proud of you for even make it in your condition. Thanks for sharing

You are right, only that we just love to sew our own clothes no matter how much fabrics cost. It is actually cheaper to buy clothes these days rather than sew.

I feel so much better now.
Thanks dear.

Just the normal sickle cell crisis that shows face every now and then, but it gets better once I take an IV fluid.

Thank you so much for the kind words dear. I really appreciate them.

I hope you feel a little better now, taking care of your health is the most important thing, it's good that she understands the sacrifices you made, even though it's not finished, the new blouse project is very nice :3, I send you a lot of energy so that everything turns out better
