DIY making Process of An Elegant modern fashion dress

Hello Hive and Community Friends.

It's such a beautiful day with a little bit of a fair weather for us this day. Even though it has been sunny the temperatures aren't really as unbearable as they used to be

I am delighted to have some peaceful time to continue with my journey of self-discovery and self-improvement and learning in all dimensions.

Each time I finish a new project, I just realize how much better my creative skills get by the day. Today is one of those days I feel overly excited about yet another project.

This elegance I have just created and completed gives me so much joy. It's a modern fashion trend where we not only sew the same designs every day but can manipulate and alter designs to bring out new styles of clothes. Having to make beadwork on clothes is also a modern fashion that adds a beautiful creative artwork to our sewing.

When I had started making this dress, I had very little knowledge of fashion, and you can see how terrible I had cut the necklines. I don't really appreciate how the necklines look now, but there is not much I can do about it.

Moving away from the necklines, the dress is also very short and above the knees, making it not useful for outings. With my new knowledge of fashion, I learned how to turn mistakes into new designs. Hence, rather than lamenting about the short length, I focused on how to creatively correct the mistake.

Having gone to the store to get some fabrics to finish the dress, I couldn't get the needed items.

Most of our accessory shops are closing down because of the high rate of inflation; it's almost difficult to get what we want from the few available stores that are open now.

I didn't get the color of the fabric I wanted, so I had to make a decision at that moment to mix the champagne gold color dress with another color. I got this black organza material, zippers, beads, and embroidery bias tape.

With the organza I cut a two-step flare to add to the length of the dress.

Fixed in the zippers.

And started the battle for the sleeves. I have noticed how we can sew two different combinations of sleeves in one dress, and I decided to try this out.

Cutting out a straight fitted sleeve from a net lace material. I sewed this to the other shorter cap sleeves with beadwork.

Next I decided to trace the bustier lines with the decorative strip, and a new and beautiful dress was ready.

You can always choose to restyle old outfits to fit in the new modern trend of designs out there. Redesigning clothes makes them entirely new, and people wouldn't know what the clothes look like before the revamping.

It's a good thing that equally makes me happy that I have been patient with myself through the years to acquire these sewing skills, and the current self-improvement makes me so proud of myself.

Making a similar dress like this in a next attempt will come with with a more gorgeous design and a better neckline; for now, we have to accept some imperfection with this.
I posted it on my WhatsApp status and got a whole loads of comments from people about how much they love the outfit. One of my best friends whom we learnt sewing had this to say too

I thought the sleeves was my favourite part until I saw the bottom. This is really beautiful. I love it and would definitely wear this to a wedding ceremony.

Beautiful work Monica. I'm glad you were able to find a matching fabric. Black looks good with any color, and this design made the dress even more beautiful and elegant. I would wear it to an evening event, it looks very delicate and has details that make it unique.

Congratulations! Have a great Monday ❤️.

Thank you dear.

I love it, how elegant for God's sake. This outfit is magnificent, I feel that I need to measure it to my figure, that it fits well to my body, with high stiletto shoes. Your design is fabulous my friend.

Thanks dear, I'm glad you like it. And that stiletto shoe is what I may need to get next. 🤩🥳😚

it's almost difficult to get what we want from the few available stores that are open now.

This reminds me of how far and wide I had to search just to find buttons for a crochet shirt and still didn't find the type of buttons I wanted. At the end of the day, I had to settle for what I saw.

Your dress looks really gorgeous and I recently discovered that the colour you used is one of the colours that suits my skin tone beautifully. I would gladly wear this to a wedding ceremony.
