Welcome to Week 2 winners announcement for our Focus Your Needlework Challenge!

We are challenging our members to better focus their needlework by enhancing the photography of their projects and being creative in how they display them.

Each week during the challenge our team will choose the top submissions we feel put in the best effort on their project photography. We will announce each set of winners every Monday for the duration of the challenge (the last winner’s announcement will be on June 26th).

Last week we had 15 entries!! Whoo Hoo!! Let me just say we were truly amazed and impressed with the efforts you brought forth.

I was really happy reading so many positive comments about this challenge. Many of you took this challenge head on and expressed that it has been worth all your efforts. You have already learned from your experiences as well as others and it has helped bring on new ideas that you are ready to explore.

This is exactly what we were aiming for! The motivation you are exuding is contagious and we hope to see many more join in and take on this challenge.

These improvements are not just for your needlework but with any subject you choose to blog about. The practices you are following to tidy up the appearance of your photos will give your blog a total makeover and potentially attract more viewers. 😃🙏🏽

We are so excited for all the benefits that will come from this!!

Now it’s time to announce the wonderful entries we chose from last week to highlight. We felt they each stood out in some kind of way.

FOCUS YOUR NEEDLEWORK CHALLENGE!

by @jonalyn2020

@Jonalyn2020 wows us once again with her stunning crocheted flower arrangements. She always takes care to make sure her photos are clear and bright and that those gorgeous colors stand out to the fullest.

You gotta appreciate all the different textures in her photos from the crochet work, tissue paper and ribbons along with the beautiful soft background she uses. This excites the eyes and keeps things interesting because there’s so much to take in.

Very well done Jonalyn!

Cherry trees and golden fabric - an upcycling project

by @kesityu.fashion

The self portraits @kesityu.fashion presents here are next level. The images in her entry clearly show the details and texture of her garment. I love the way she featured the sleeves and also used them as a cover for her face which led us to focus solely on her needlework.

The angles used are creative and fun. The outside elements add a really nice touch to the viewing experience and helps give the photos a lovely tone and temperature. Very nice work focusing in on the beauty of the details and making the effort to present clear precise photos.

Focus challenge: Women's sweater with hood (Eng-Esp)

by @purpleglitter

One thing I noticed immediately about @purpleglitter’s entry were the variety of angles she plays with. I love how she captures her finished garment in ways that shows us different perspectives. The closeups are great and we see nice vibrant images that show off the heart colors.

Once again another entry that used nature to help display the needlework. Taking these shots outside gave it great lighting. The bright greenery in the background provided a nice contrast that made the garment shine even more.

FOCUS CHALLENGE | Let's make a beret! || Hagamos una boina. ✨

by @yulilemus

Another needle artist who is the model of her work. I love how expressive @yulilemus is in her self portraits. Did you know she is a mime? 😃

We love those closeups on details. It’s neat that she showed us both the inside and outside of her work which provides a lovely color contrast. There was good use of lighting and clarity which helps in the overall presentation. Nicely done ~

Focus Challenge: seemingly-never-ending finishing of details!

by @clareartista

We love that @clareartista took it to the streets with her photography and got her project right out in the open sunlight. The apron-dress is well staged on the mannequin which enabled for some fabulous full length photos.

Throughout the post she took the time to zoom in on the features which show up very clearly. She did a really good job highlighting even the smallest parts of her handiwork which helps one appreciate such skill level.

Focusyourneedlework: Les presento a Rapunzel 😍 Meet Rapunzel. [esp-eng]

by @carolinacardoza

Using multiple settings to grab images of your projects is good practice. This helps the artist get a feel of how certain items will look in different types of lighting. The doll looks charming in the natural sunlight.

@Carolinacardoza set up a mini studio to showcase her doll. I love that she added the flowers as an element to help fill in space. They also compliment her project.

You each have received 5 Hive in your wallets! Thank you for working hard to improve your presentations through your project photography. Keep up the great work!!

There is one more entry I’d like to mention that deserves some recognition. This entry was cleverly presented and well thought out…

Focus your needlework challenge

by @tahiaarq

IMG_7882.jpeg

What I like most about @tahiaarq’s entry is the way she displayed the doll characters. As you can see in the image she snapped a photo of them right outside their very own studio. Throughout her post she found other clever ways to showcase her work like using their comic strip to place them next to. It was cool being able to compare what they look like animated versus crocheted.

Thank you for sharing your creativity and giving us new ideas on how to display our work.

You have received 3 Hive in your wallet for your clever efforts!

Tune in next Monday for the third round of winners announced!!

We look forward to seeing more FOCUS entries coming in. 😃
