My wardrobe | All I ever want is...

in NeedleWorkMonday5 years ago (edited)

Hello needleworkers from all around the world!

her wardrobe challenge to say a few things about the garments I would like to sew, the garments I mostly wear, and those I have already sewed.Tonight I take the turn from @neumannsalva and her article about

First of all, I would like to say a few things about sewing. I started sewing in 2012 and after 2 years of attending sewing courses I took a kind of sewing certificate. What I learnt from the courses was not just how to make a cloth, because I think this is easier than the "other"! And the other is the "Transformation challenge"! I mean how to upcycle a cloth to another one and this process is that I enjoy the most!

So, the first cloth I have ever sewed is a blue shirt and a dichromatic vest that was made from two old and distressed skirts. I am wearing them both in several occasions. As you can see in the first photo , I am in Italy for a conference (October 2016) and I am wearing both the shirt and the vest.

While in second photo, I am wearing the vest in a summer evening or autumnal (September 2018, I think) and you can see the other side of the vest. I chose not to add buttons because I wanted it that way.

And these are the only casual clothes I have ever sewed for me since something always happens and I alwas sew for someone else or for evening dresses like that purple one... (baptism day of my second daughter, Lydia)

and...

I end up with two clothes and I wear them all the time like this orange red shirt blouse! I have not sewed this one, I think someone gave it to me, and I am wearing it everywhere. Here I am wearing it during our family vacation in Kefalonia, 2018 and..

..here I am wearing it in Samos, 2019 while I was teaching there for a year (In the photo I am in the archaeological museum of Samos)

An other cloth I am wearing it all the time in summer is my jean shorts, that you have already seen above and you can see it here again (Kefalonia 2018). But here you can see an other shirt like, more a tunic, that not only I wear it all the time but...

I will sew a tunic like that with my fabric scraps. I started with this design but...

I ended with that because it has more rectangulars and straight lines..

As far as my wishes...I love shirts and trousers all kind of them! That's why I have bought these books! Despite the fact that shirt books contain more info for men, or they are only for menswear, they are very helpful for the separate parts of a shirt .

118712428_1289425574738624_7335081859685040836_n.jpg

For example they contain many pattern for sleeves, for collars and for cuffs as well, 3 parts I adore to play with while I am making a shirt for clients, but most of them they want the shirt plain and simple like this shirt I have made in 2016 due to a graduation case

So, what my casual wardrobe (made by me) consists of are...
  • one shirt
  • one vest
  • one potential tunic
What I want to sew for my casual wardrobe is...
  • 3 at least shirts with strange cuffs, sleeves and collars
  • 2 vests as well
  • 2 pants from Wendy Ward's Book (photo above)
  • 1 pair of trousers and one vest as well from an old red uniform that my husband gave me

I hope this winter that all my kids will be at school and kindergarten...to find time to sew for me and to share with you my sewing creations!!

So, who's next??? Who's gonna take the turn and present their wardrobe (potential or real)???

And how do you think of mine? Send me your comments and show me your love!!

So amazing to see all these wonderful photos of you and I fear Greece is a tad more beautiful as a background than Germany 😂 And your sewing is so wonderful, I am still in fear of woven fabric, but you really mastered it. I love the idea of a scrap/patchwork blouse and look forward to see it finished.
Just for inspiration, I love this patchwork jacket and dream of being able to something like this sometimes:

I think she used the pattern from „all well“https://allwellworkshop.com/cardigan-coat

But now your sewing plan: I love the blouses with strange sleeves... etc. I also love puff sleeves, or bishop sleeves or or and I am curious which designs you are planning. I still have not tried/finished to sew a „real“ blouse with buttonband, but I really want to learn this. But trousers 😂😂😂🤪🤣 I fear this would be beyond me, especially the fitting of a pair of trousers. So in my eyes you have made a interesting and very advanced plan for your wardrobe and I am looking forward to see you bring it in the world (If you are ever up to it, I would love to hear what kind of fabric shops are in Greece... I find it super fascinating to see fabrics and magazines from other countries <3
PS: the books! Wow these are also very advanced and reflect how well you are in sewing and designing. I had a look at them, but for me this much too advanced. I first need to learn more (by the way, I will go to a sewing course today, which was interrupted because of Corona. Sadly the teacher does not explain a lot, she mostly takes the garments and sews them herself - which I do not like, as I want to learn... I fear she is not a big explainer :-DDD)

Well, I will start with the pants (and why not, to make a tutorial for them, and since you mentioned about sewing course, I am thinking of starting a new Blog Post Series in Peakd, how to sew, the basics and then move to advance techniques, so maybe you will find it helpful :) as far as the books, "Wendy" is on its way to you now :D

Can't wait to see what you will sew :)

Have a !BEER

Well, I 'll definitely start with the pants :)
