Crochet Hobby Horse

As a crocheter mom, one of my constant "clients" is my daughter who uses my crochet books as her catalogues. She has requested a whole set of crochet zookeepers last year. Then she requested some vests and scarves and crocheted socks. A lot of her plushie toys were crocheted as well.

This time, she requested a hobby horse that she saw on one of my crochet books. I was working on a different project at the time she requested but of course I can't just say no to this cute little client of mine. Aside from the fact that she's going to harass ask me every minute to see if the project is already done, she makes this face that melts my heart whenever I tell her I haven't gotten into it any of her requests yet. So I have to put aside all my other projects and stuff to make way for the crochet hobby horse.

Surprisingly, the pattern in the book is really easy to follow. For the first time too, I did follow the instructions. I even tried the swatching part too. I used the indophil yarns I won on a raffle from 2 years ago. Yes, I still have them and I haven't used them all. I kept running out of ideas on where to use 12 big cones of 1ply indophil yarn. Plus, I kept buying more milk cotton yarns ever since I started using it for my amigurumi projects.

During the entire process of making the hobby horse, the little client kept on asking me questions. She kept asking me whether I am indeed creating the crochet hobby horse she requested. The entire time, she would keep herself busy but whenever she has the chance, she would check up on me and see where I'm at with the process. I used the phrase "Trust the process" a lot of times.

This project is a little bit big but I finished it in a span of 5 days. I had to squeeze it in to all the things I needed to do during the day. This project got me inspired, plus the constant motivational questions from my kid kept me going. Even her father helped me fix the unicorn head into the stick when I was done crocheting and stuffing it.

I can say it was a fun project. It was a fun toy too, might I add. I enjoyed crocheting this one. The stitches that were used were basics except for the BLO on the neck part. I love attaching the mane too, it did give it a lot of life. When it dances with the wind when my daughter is playing, it is just so lovely. I'm thinking of adding a little bit more mane to it. But only when I find the time and the inspiration again. It seems that my daughter is already happy with it as it is. Otherwise, she'd have told me right away. She's a happy client, I'm sure there'll be more requests coming my way.

I like that you enjoyed the project and for me that’s the most important thing.
I smiled when you said your constant client is your daughter, that’s cute
The horse is cute as well, that’s great job right there

Wow
I never thought anyone could knit an animal because I’ve never seen such in my life
I hope you do more and upgrade your crocheting skills
It’s really going to be good for you

It turned out very beautiful on you!

In my country, wooden horses are a very traditional object. Although not many children can enjoy them.

I'm glad to see one crocheted. Is beautiful.
