I didn’t plan on crocheting today after a rough night of interrupted sleep. The howling of wild animals kept me up, and to make matters worse, my kitty Blu sneaked out and didn’t return until morning. Lucky for him, he’s alive—considering how laid-back he is, he could’ve easily ended up as a predator’s feast.
He was so sleepy all day—who knows what kind of mischief he was up to out there in the dark?
While Blu was fast asleep I started playing with my yarn beside him and, before I knew it, I had created a little kitty vest.
I spent a couple of hours stitching. The room was a bit dark, so the photos weren’t very clear.
Here’s how I made it:
I used a 5 mm hook, leftover fluffy yarn, and a sleepy kitty!
I made a chain and measured the diameter of his neck, making sure it fit snugly but could still be slipped on.
He was too tired to protest while I measured him.
I connected the ends to form a circle and continued single crocheting all around.
For the back of his neck, I crocheted halfway around the circle, then worked back and forth until it covered the back of his neck just below the shoulders.
I gradually increased the stitches by extending with chains.
I measured around his belly- to widen the piece so it could wrap around.
I continued single crocheting back and forth to create the length,
stopping just above his hind legs.
When I ran out of white yarn, I added some pink for extra length.
I also used pink yarn to create a little collar.
To secure the vest, I added a large black button, making sure it was fastened very securely.
Easy slip-on collar.
Back side, with an adjustable button to easily fasten on kitty's side.
Belly side
I like how soft it is and how it looks.
With the sun shining, I managed to snap some photos.
This is one of the best kitty outfits I’ve made—Blu wasn’t bothered by it!
He was walking around with it.
He could jump and run freely without any trouble, and he didn’t even try to take it off.
Enjoying the sunshine.
Doing his usual mischievous stuff.
This little project definitely made us all smile!
My cuddly Kitty Bear and even more cuddly with his attire!
Have a lovely day, everyone!

He looks a tad miffed to me!:) He has no idea how he's gonna face his friends.
Haha! Poor fellow. He could not go so far with his attire, but it's great as it keeps him nearby.
😂
Just count your lucky stars Clare hasn't knit something like that for you...yet!
😅
Oh I understand that fear, when your furry friend is outdoors and you hear wild animals. There are lots of foxes near mend I do worry about our cats at night. I love the vest you made, well done xxx
Thank you. 🩷😊
Wow, sounds like a night of great adventure, even if you didn't have such a great time, it must be very interesting to hear all those night noises.
Good thing your kitty is safe and sound.
Yes it was, howling screech sounds are not nice. Yes Im pleased that he is safe. Thank you. 🩷😊
