My bonsai tree didn’t survive the cold, wet weather, but I couldn’t bring myself to throw it away.
Instead, after I had dried it, I crocheted tiny flowers to decorate its branches.
It was such a relaxing time crafting these little flowers this evening, the rain and wind beating against the walls while I kept myself warm with my needle and yarns in assorted colours.
It’s amazing how these little creations can transform our world into a bright moment, even in the middle of chaos.
I was fully absorbed, determined to breathe new life into my little tree!
I used leftover yarns and a 3mm crochet needle.
Simple Patterns: (adjust the number to your desired size.)
Mini Crochet Flower (Two Colours)
Centre (Colour B):
Make a magic ring or chain 4, join into a circle.
Ch 1, 6 sc into the ring. Pull to tighten. Sl st to join.
Fasten off.
Petals (Colour A):
Attach yarn to any sc with a sl st.
Ch 2, dc in the same st, ch 2, sl st in the next sc.
Repeat * to * around for 6 petals.
Sl st to finish and fasten off.
Weave in ends. Done! 🌸
I also added leaves:
Mini Crochet Leaf Pattern
Ch 7 (or desired length).
Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook: st. sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc.
Continue along the opposite side of the chain: sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc, st
Fasten off and weave in ends. Done! 🍃
I made several flowers and leaves, enough to scatter across the branches of the tree.
I used glue sticks to attach them and was so pleased with the way it turned out.
Now, my bonsai tree has a new kind of beauty—bright, colourful blossoms that bring life back to it in a different way.
I put it back in its original pot.
A little reminder that what is lost can still be transformed into something beautiful and meaningful.💕
